Chip Kelly being fired... sounds like an OC opp

So shortsighted. Mora’s last three years were 8-5, 4-8, 6-7.

Kelly has steadily improved them from years 2-5. They could still match their 9-4 record from the year prior and include a bowl win. They also lost their very experience QB that got drafted. They haven’t lost by that many points either this year from what I can tell.

Absolutely stupid. Why not let him finish at least the last two games? Is he not allowed to have a slight regression or he has to improve every single year?

If you were Freeman, do you make contact with Moore? I would think you at least touch base and get a feel of the situation.

You are looking for a 4th man, why not?

Have a close friend who's son played for Chip at UNH .

They both speak very highly of him as a coach and a person.
He got into it with someone on sports radio and then after a week or he called the cat up and said you caught me at a bad time with little facts....let get together and we can talk.....
That is a class act

Chip fired?

There was a thread not long ago saying how good he was…

@sjb? Your thoughts?

Plenty of HC have taken a step back. Al Golden comes to mind.
Al Golden wasn’t praised as a genius and innovator the way Kelly has been during his heyday at the UO. There is ZERO chance Chip Kelly becomes an offensive coordinator somewhere.

So he hasn’t actually been fired yet. The original X post says he will be fired.

UCLA shouldn’t have let this leak or let it be hinted as possible.

Not a chance Kelly will be an OC
Yeah, honestly I don't think so either... it was more for convo speculation. I think if anything he goes into the booth for a year or so.

Indiana is a program that should give him a very serious consideration.

Not sure Kelly’s Oregon chops still carry much allure these days. That was over eleven years ago. Since then he was fired as Philadelphia’s head coach after three slightly better than 500 seasons, and then fired after one disastrous season with the 49ers. Most believed his innovative offenses were better suited for the college game, and his going to UCLA was expected to show this. I thought he improved the UCLA product significantly, but the won loss records have only inched up slowly, and not resulted in Oregon like success. Unlike Golson, not sure that he wouldn’t consider an OC position at a place like ND. Maybe he’s sick of the distractions that come with being a head coach. Maybe he feels a Two or three year respite from head coaching is needed. Maybe he loves offensive game planning above all else. My guess is he wants one more shot at a big time program with NC aspirations, and perhaps he thinks a super successful stint as ND’s OC is his best Avenue for getting one. And perhaps, he hasn’t even been fired!

That program is where coaches go to die.

I agree. Who do they expect to get that’ll be better?

Chip Kelly wasn't hired for the occasional 9 win season. UCLA wants to have some success comparable with their resources. The Bruins are the most underachieving program in college football in terms of wins:resources.

Maybe but it doesn’t happen overnight. How has their recruiting been? Its not “occasional” 9 win seasons. He’s building the program so 9 wins is the usual. That usually doesn’t happen too quickly though I admit I don’t follow the program.

Chip Kelly was one of the original spread innovators but now everyone runs it. The majority opinion is that ND needs a system that emphasizes between the tackles running and TEs. So we would pass on CK

Hillarious that we are even having this conversation. No fricking way is CK going to accept an OC position. Stupid...
