Coaches like Saban and Stoops and Patterson and Urban and Harbaugh go absolutely ballistic on the sidelines yelling at their players, refs, and assistant coaches almost every damn game !! Patterson even grabbed a player ! Kelly was doing it a lot in the beginning to toughen up the players and it worked--rising to a 12 and 1 record and a National Championship game ! But after getting scolded by the Pillsberry doughboy admins he had to tone it down ! And now the team is playing soft again !! Lou Holtz used to grab players by their facemasks !! But even he was asked to tone it down !! No coach worth his beans will want to come coach at Notre Dame when he has to act like a friggen choirboy!!
Throwing the team under the bus worked for Coach Kelly in 2011 and they turned it around to finish the season strong and continued wth a great season in 2012 !! Last year we had way more talent than the 2012 team but we couldn't finish Stanford off or we make the playoffs !! We should have beat Boston college and Temple by thirty but we were to damn soft !! In the marine corps they made us mean and want to search and destroy !! Our coaches need to use the same methods !! Like Nick Saban and Chesty Puller !! No more tough gentlemen !! We need the Irish to play more like angry hungry rotweillers !! cgvr is like that soldier that General Patton slapped ! A wuss !

I stated previously that I wish Kelly would show more emotion on the sidelines, as I think he has toned his act down too much, and I think this sets the tone for the team. It was good to see Kelly celebrating a defensive stop deep in ND territory Saturday, and I hope we see a progressively more animated Kelly on the sidelines. Not a return of the f bomb dropping red faced heart attack in waiting Kelly, but with some obvious fire in the belly.

Why can't BK be himself? Patterson, Dabo, Saban, and Petrino all had sideline episodes last week and for some, it's a weekly occurrence. Irish fans fall into the narrative that the media presents, but they don't present that narrative on an equal basis. This board didn't do this much nitpicking during the TW and Weis days. If BK wins, everything's cool. If he doesn't, its not because of his sideline demeanor. If that was the case, Bama would have had losing seasons since Grouchy arrived.
