Bryant to UAB?

Wow! He slights the college he is committing to in his tweet:

"Never in my life would I be thinking I would go here," Bryant posted. "But, the next move has to be the best move. I'm officially committed to the University of Alabama Birmingham! Strictly a (business) decision. ‪Minor set back for a major comeback."
And, he probably still wonders why ND suspended him for "not meeting expectations". Reading between the lines - no matter how much talent you have, don't come to Notre Dame and think you are bigger than the program.

Hope he does well. He's a major talent, that sat behind a fine RB in Folston. Now Folston might sit behind CJ when he returns. Next man in is working for ND.

I personally thought Bryant deserved more carries. Kelly was afraid of the turnovers I guess.

In any event, good luck to Greg.

Are they paying him? Otherwise it is a terrible business decision! 2 years off, then play one last year and hope you get drafted playing on a team that will be lucky to win 2 or 3 games?!? Wow...

He probably does not realize he needs to wait until 2017 and will bail on them once someone gives him an option to play in 2016. That is unless he cannot get academically qualified by 2016 which seems hard to believe. Why else would you sit out next year?

He may not be able to play at an FBS school until 2017 (unless he comes back). Transferring when suspended complicates things even more, but without a suspension the "year in residence" must be complete at the college a transferring player wants to compete.

If Bryant expected to play at a Division I school in 2016, he needed to get enrolled in that school this past fall. Even then, his year in residency might have been delayed due to his suspension. Its probably an oversimplification, but the NCAA doesn't allow players to double dip by serving their year in residence for the same time in which they have been suspended from another program.

I wish him luck.

It has nothing to do with him being suspended or transferring. Remember UAB dropped their football program a few years back, and once all the players transferred they decided to bring it back? Well it is not coming back until 2017.....

I think it's fair to say now; Greg Bryant is the biggest bust in the 10 years of my computer age. What a disappointment IMHO. I'm not a very high tech person! I'm still a pen and paper type of guy.
Analog guy in a digital world...I get that :)

If you deleted the star rankings, knowing what you know now, who would you choose if you could only get one of these players out of HS- Bryant, Folston, Prosise? All very talented.

By the time GB plays again in 2017 will he even resemble the player he once was? I mean thats 2 years out of football, and basically 3 calendar yrs going back to '14. This seems very strange.

To Hell with football.

I guess he doesn't understand the value of a ND degree

understatement of the night. blows my mind as someone that sits here at 30 years old how dumb this looks from the outside. Even if you sit the bench you're set for life w/ that degree. I imagine he just never felt comfortable at ND, but still, come back next year and share time. I mean its not like you'll be tearing it up at UAB next year.

well, based upon what he has shown to date, he will have had a sincere need of that ND degree. He cannot seriously think he is an NFL prospect.
