A warrior. Great career. And a solid decision to get out of the game after three concussions. With a family and kids and an ND sheepskin -- it is time to move on and ensure he has a second healthy and prosperous life beyond the NFL!

NOTE TO ALL THE RECRUITS OUT THERE: Let this be a lesson to all of you. The average length of an NFL career is 3.3 yeas -- this from the NFL players Association. No matter how much you make that isn't going to cut it over the long run. This is why you get a REAL Degree from a top 20 school (#1 Business School) like Our Lady!

Congratulations and best of luck, John. Thanks for the memories. Now go make us proud.

Carlson was a great player - to add to your point - look at the ND and the draft this past season .

Don't remember too much about him but was he the guy that posters used to complain about because of his punt return yardage stats?
