On a recent podcast which I think is called “2 pros & a cup of joe”, Brady Quinn joined a crescendo of other analysts like Dan Patrick, Cowherd, Finebaum, and many others in exposing the idiocy and lack of class Kelly showed in leaving ND abruptly for a “better opportunity to win “ at LS U
Quinn was relentless. It is so sweet to see a score of top analysts all lambasting Kelly
Finebaum said he spent time with ND fans post Suger Bowl and their glee at winning was matched by their satisfaction that Kelly is sitting on his butt n failing

Dimensions as if he sad spent time with ND fans post Suger Bowl and their glee at winning was matched by their satisfaction that Kelly is sitting on his butt n failing

And here comes the president of the BK fan club, Savvy in 3.....2....1....

Didn't you want Coach Freeman fired earlier this season? 😊
You are usually on top of things, P. But you fail to recognize that I owned up to my frustration with freeman post niu. I never called for his dismissal but questioned the rash of 4-5 losses to inferior teams. I did a mea culpa.

When u gonna visit? Easter is nice summer gets too hot

Maybe Kelly can finally lose some weight since Brady ripped him another one.

Losing to NIU didn't just generate disappointment.....it sparked outrage. Calls for CMF's head (and Denbrock's) was totally understandable, and predictable. At what top 5 program would that not occur?

This post is Bullshit. The number of people that wanted Freeman fired after NIU was a very very small vocal minority.

Fact . Not one person saw ND getting this far after the NIU loss. And yes, myself along with many had real questions and doubts he was going to succeed. It wasn’t just the NIU loss. It was also brutal losses to Marshall and Stanford in 2022. It was getting smacked around by Louisville in 2023. Then NIU loss happened. That is where people really questioned the hiring of MF. It was a legit question to ask. However to his credit, he turned a bad situation into a positive. The NIU loss basically became a catalyst or wake up call. MF and the Irish responded resoundingly. Still one more game to go. Win or lose , I think MF got his feet on firm ground and got a grip on what it takes to win.

The above quote is revisionist history bullshit. The #### of people that questioned the hiring after the loss to NIU was a vey very small minority, the lunatic fringe you could say.

You are entitled to your opinion. I disagree. Even the most ardent supporters were wondering if MF , hired as a first time head coach , was going to succeed. It wasn’t the “ lunatic fringe “ as you so eloquently put it. Leading up to the season this team was billed as the most talented team in years. “ Loaded” was what many people were saying. Go look at the preseason videos if you doubt me. Then to lose to NIU at home after beating TAM was horrible. They were a 28 point favorite. Say what you want. Believe what you want . I am stating facts. A team with as much talent as ND has , should never lose at home to a 28 point underdog in your 3rd year as head coach.

The story from week 2 till right now is a story of 2 extremes. Go back and read posts after that game, if you need to....as well as the eulogies from the media. "Disappointment" wasn't the reaction I remember at all. I said the fan response was "understandable" given the opponent in Freeman's third year. Not that it was entirely agreeable, just understandable. It is easy to look back and find ways to dampen the burn of week 2. But, from the looks of things since, it appears the locker room didn't go that route. We can all ride the wave of their hard work and sacrifice....but that was a very dark day in Notre Dame football....falling to a 4 touchdown underdog.

This site, as with most sites, is full of bandwagon jumpers. One of the hardest things is being a true fan. I know this, because I'm also a Cub fan. We should know when to pull the trigger and when to holster it! You'll never have continual instant gratification from anything, or any team, you follow.

I would advise anyone never to read the first few pages of any gameday thread then. The comments on there from the "sky is falling crowd" are ridiculous. I try to approach them as if they are made in some kind of drunken stupor because I can't picture them as coming from a rational state of mind. Same posters do it every game and the gameday only trolls join in.

We were irrelevant until Kelly came to ND. Weis was all smoke and mirrors, like Ty a high here and there but then... a big loss.

Kelly got us back into the convo. Rebuilt us into a top ten program. Three undefeated seasons. Three trips to the playoffs (or Natty.) Yes, he couldn't win the big one, yes, the way he left sucked.

But I will always appreciate how Kelly resurrected a mid-level program that was mediocre under later-Holtz, bad under Davie, Ty and Charlie.

Besides, Kelly brough Marcus to ND!!!! And Marcus knows how to win big games.

Many questioned his hire because of the NIU loss. Noting recurring loses like Stanford and Marshal. The majority however did not want to fire MF.

Nothing wrong with any of this. Why such an angry tone?

It's called the vocal minority.

Don
Kelly did much for us. He also left us in a poor manner, in how he departed and what he said. His actions eliminated all the good will he built over the years and Now instead of fans appreciating him, they despise him. Maybe despise us too strong a word but there is no love for Kelly and that is his own fault. He could have been remembered fondly but fuked up

And his behaviour in leaving is indicative of him putting himself first versus freeman who puts the team first and is respectful of nd tradition

as per sjb, he has a 100 million guaranteed reasons to help him sleep well at night. I doubt he gives a cr@p how ND remembers him.

after the failures of the previous two years, the INDEFENSIBLE LOSS TO NIU fueled a lot of heat. From a lot of people. You sound like a Demorcrat defending Harris and with as much cred

True. ……
But it’s gotta burn his balls every time he turns on the tv , looks at the internet it’s all about Freeman succeeding and doing what Kelly said couldn’t be done.

And the insurmountable pressure building at lsu for the 25 season. Karma is a bitch.

Oh believe me, I'm not a fan of Kelly's after the way he left and more so what he said after he left. The hype for LSU is building for 2025. If BK fails to make the playoffs or has an early round exit, I can't see LSU keeping him going into year 5.

that is your opinion which has been shown to be worthless
The board after the NIU was the most toxic I think I've ever seen it. It was no vocal minority and it was to the point that I just stayed away from it for a few days because there was just angry post after angry post.

It was a vocal minority, consider that group the lunatic fringe, that wanted Marcus Freeman fired after NIU.

I was here in 2016 when Brian Kelly was 4-8. That was far far far worse.

Two things can be true, Kelly got the program rebuilt and on track, especially from 2017 to 2021. ND was a legit Top 10 program. Pretty impressive since he inherited a f'king disaster was Davieham Weis Eras. In BK's 12 years, ND got the field turf, Shamrock Series Uniforms, Light Shows, Stadium Music, upgraded the facilities. The schedule got way more manageable and if ND lost 0-1 regular season games they were going to be in contention for the BCSCG and CFP. They made is 3x and just missed by one spot in 2021. BK also hired and brought to ND the hottest HC in the Nation.

However, BK was an excuse maker, and seemed to not even be remotely interested in recruiting. The current ND coach recruits his ass off, makes no excuses, calls ND a special place and as a result has won 3 Major Bowl Games in 13 days, something Brian Kelly failed to do once in 12 years. Marcus Freeman is the reason ND is where they are today, BK is the reason LSU is where they are today. No shade just facts.

You can try to rewrite history all you want sh!tbird but you were at the top of list of Freeman bashers. This is just one of many lies you try to tell on this site. You are not a ND fan & you flamed the anti Freeman sentiment. You are such a loser. Get a life Dennis.

Notre Dame never had the chance to play a 12 game playoff before this season.

In 2012, 2018, and 2020, Notre Dame lost their major bowl games to the eventual national champions when the playoffs were either the 2 team BCS, or the 4-team CFB Playoff.
