Can't really put my finger on it, but during Kelly's time as head coach I have often been excited by certain players or offensive approaches only to be left wondering; where did that guy go; or, where did that play(s) go. One example: No one is going to call SC slow on defense. ND came out with jet sweeps to the left, jet sweeps to the right, power up the middle, short and long passes. Really countered SC's speed. Then comes the game against Miami, the whole first quarter it didn't look like they had any idea what to do; nothing. I don't recall seeing a jet sweep the whole first quarter. Am I off base??

Well, only on the USC play, SC had a few injuries at LB and Smith is very good but not a speedster. Houston is quick and not much bigger than a DB. The DL was a patchwork group against the Irish.
USC is probably not a good barometer for comparing to Miami.

I've seen that for eight years. Some things are a mystery.

I will tell you this in regards to where do some players or plays go...

each week the staff has a game plan for the opponent. They make a game plan and just stick with it.

Having said that great coaching has the ability to adjust and call things on the fly. Once you get a feel for what the other team is doing you need to be able to adjust the game plan at a moments notice.

Can you say that BK is a good in game adjuster? Does he seem to have a good sense of feel for the moment?

It's not just the USC game...what you speak of has happened over the eight years with BK. You see certain players have success with certain plays but then they just disappear.

We obviously don't know the inner results of practices during the week and who was spot on or not but you can't believe for a second that all those players who appear then vanish are all getting disciplined or can't grasp a certain assignemt.

After all BK shops from the different aisle so these kids would be smarter than the other kids in major college football.

Just ask him

You would make the best coach! You should throw your name in the hat for potential new coaches!
