Jay Hayes, Greg Bryant, Gunner Kiel, Kolin Hill, Jhonny Williams, Aaron Lynch, Davonte Neal, Tee Shepard, & Justin Ferguson, all entered Notre Dame with high hopes and we had great expectations. For one reason or another, they left and went elsewhere to pursue their football dream.

They're not the only ones, just the ones I remember at this time. Not counting 5th year guys like Crist and Golson, Once they're gone I say forget them... appreciate the players that stay and dedicate themselves to ND. As Tony Soprano would say, "They're dead to me."

We work so hard to get the blue chip recruits, why do you think so many leave? Is the competition too strong? The coaches too harsh? Are they utilized wrong? Are they lacking in character? Just food for thought.

What transfer losses do you think have impacted ND the most? Your thoughts on the reasons would be nice too.

It's better to focus on the one's you have, than the one's who do not want to be part of your program. I'll say this...since Brian Kelly & Co have come to ND. The program has went from having one 1st Round Draft Pick from 2000-2009 (Brady Quinn) To having Michael Floyd, Harrison Smith, Tyler Eifert and Zack Martin all go # 1. With Jeff Fuller, Ronnie Stanley and Jaylon Smith waiting in the wings, The players ND is recruiting should have no reservations about this staff being able to get them to the NFL.

Jay Hayes has left? I saw dumb tweets that he deleted but he's been posting dumb tweets since ND started recruiting him.

Do you know something everyone else doesn't? I would assume he's unhappy with PT and the fact he may red shirt this year.

My guess is that Alize Jones will be added to that list in a few years-- throw in a couple OL as well

Speaking of OL DYK that Procise has picked up more yds in the first three games than any RB in the program since 1980 ( Phil Carter ) . Just a hunch but if a converted safety can pick up 500 yds in 3 games than there is NFL talent across the line

Then there are the pleasant surprises like Tillery at DT, Prosise at RB, Fuller, Kizer playing so well having no experience, Okwara stepping up at DE.

As for Hayes he is still on the team and is still young.

Sorry, I jumped the gun on that one. If his quote was legit, I suspect the staff will help him out the door before too long.

ND has always recruited potential NFL Talent. But only 2 of the last 6 Coaches have maximized the talent, Darrin Walls, Sergio Brown and David Bruton are still in the NFL, And while they played in the Defensive Backfield at ND, The ND Defense was incapable of stopping the forward pass, The ND defense in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl and 2007 Sugar Bowl did more to help Troy Smith's' and Jamarcus Russell's careers than their own agents did. 1997 to 2009 were dark days, And even more reason to appreciate what ND will have going on here for the next 5 or 6 years

What makes you think that with Alize? He opened the first game of the year as a true frosh getting a pass thrown to him (That's when we had no TE injuries). Kelly in his PC yesterday was saying Alize is unreal and just too talented to not play because of some mistakes. They will keep playing him and throwing him the ball through his mistakes. You don't see that very often at a position with some depth.

With the O-Line i'm sure some big prospects won't get much PT because there is so much good competition that not everyone can play and chemistry is huge. RT and LG is locked up for another 2 years, and probably LT with Bars for 2 more years. So really the competition for PT will be at Center and RG for the next few years after Elmer leaves (most likely after next year). So you're going to have studs sitting for 3 years.

My big disappointment is Okwara/Trumbetti this year, that DE position has not gotten much done.

If Max doesn't step it up soon he will become a disappointment, we need a ball hawking safety vs clemson, USC, etc.

Also, RB recruiting. We should be able to land a stud ASAP at the RB position with minimal depth.

I would not include Tee on that list. He loved Note Dame but his test score did not come through to get admitted.

I know he bounced around from school to school over the years but I hope he plays well this year.

I'll surely root for him.

If it was up to him I think he would be in his 5th and final year or last year would have been.

I agree - he wanted to be here bad. However, the only point I differ with is he would not have come back for a fifth year if he had the type of career I think he would have had in South Bend.

Fl Ir is correct I mean he will be on the 1st rd drafted list soon enough

Transfers are the unwanted results of competition. I welcome it, it means you have a lot of talent.

i dont like to post in threads like this just b/c i feel like a jerk for doing it. But I think w/out question my biggest disappointment was Ishaq. 5 star stud and played as a true frosh, but never progressed.

Bryant would be 1b since he was listed by 1 site as the #2 RB in the nation in high school.

Deion Walker would be up there as well. I thought him and Floyd would be an unstoppable duo, didnt think it would end up being Tate instead.

at 3-0 I have no disappointments.

the injuries do dishearten a bit if only for the lost opportunity for those kids who want to be on the field.

as for those that are gone or left on their own. no looking back.

I think Deonte Greenberry and Aaron Lynch were the most disappointing. Still do not understand what Greenberry was thinking. He basically has gone unnoticed at Houston from a national Spotlight perspective. Imagine him and Fuller ? Lynch ????? wow. A once -in a lifetime DE . Not sure if ND gets a more talented DE again.
