Excited to take my wife to her first ND game on Saturday. Last time I visited, I rented a car and drove down for the game (unfortunate pasting by GT in Jimmy's first game) but was looking at other modes of transportation this time around. Didn't know what some of the more seasoned visitors like to take (South Shore Line, bus, etc.). Any help is appreciated! Go Irish!

I always fly into Midway from Houston and rent a car. Only 90 min. drive from there. Waiting on buses and rails I don't like because I want to be on my time and not on bus or railway schedules. Rent a car and enjoy the beautiful drive into Notre Dame. I can't wait until USC week I will be in attendance making the trek from reality (Houston) to the beautiful scenes of THE NOTRE DAME CAMPUS

WE ARE ND!!!

Take tollway east to Notre Dame exit 77 straight into the White Lot. About 1 1/2 hour drive. I drive this route from Gary every single home game and it works great for me. Forget the South Shore. Too unpredictable. You don't need that headache. If you must though, you still will need a ride to campus. Taxi, shuttle. I don't know what the plan is at the South Shore station in SB.

Anybody who knows anything bout the South Shore and who is a regular rider knows that "a couple of times" is not a true measure. It probably would be OK but all I'm saying is that it unpredictable for all kinds of reasons.

Relax dudester. The guy asked for help and we are trying to help the guy out. All suggestions I'm sure would be appreciated by him. Car, plane, train, mule. It's his choice. I want he and his wife to have a great game day experience.

south shore is great 90 percent of the time. do you feel lucky? just make sure you have a back up option available to you if that's the route you go

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions! Since it's her first game I decided to splurge and try the bus to Notre Dame option mentioned by SeanPol355. Now that we have that taken care all we need to hope for is an Irish victory!

90 minutes before kickoff the band marches to the stadium from next to the Golden Dome

BE THERE !!

Due to conversations like these and tons of sell outs by other busing companies, I started IrishExpress.com. I thought the other options out there for these kinds of party buses could be much better organized and it wouldn't be that hard that hard to make the experience a whole lot better. Check it out and give me a call if you're interested. Early bird tickets are already down to one last bus per game (and its only June)

If you are coming to the game and leaving on the same day, definitely get the toll pass with your rental. Very convenient. You can avoid some of the tolls by taking the 94 rather than the 90 as you leave Chicago, but you also add 20-30 mins to the drive.
