Bell is Irish!

This is big, if we get Gray that’s two high guys at our biggest position of need.

WAtched some film. Man, this dude is fast as heck. Punt, KO, WR, Secondary. Just get him on the field. He is just blazing by people.

Is he the fastest DB since Allen Rossum?

Yes, I think so. Wikipedia says Rossum ran a 10.02 100m while a senior in HS, but I've read elsewhere there are questions about how accurate that time could be. Apparently it may have been hand timed. But there is no question that Rossum was a blazer and was likely the fastest player ever to wear the blue and gold. Troy Pride, another burner, ran a wind-aided 10.47 100m at the 2017 ACC outdoor track and field championships, so that will give you an idea of how impressive Micah Bell's 10.41 100m time is.

Had no idea Rossum was that fast. 10.02 is insane. To me, Rocket was the fastest ND player I’ve ever seen, and by a decent margin.

Rocket reportedly ran a 4.28 40. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Sometimes it doesn’t translate. Rocket and Fuller just had a different gear on the field. Never forget that USC game after the announcers where talking about how fast one of the USC players was and fuller blew past him for the TD. Dude was a burner.

Rocket and Rossum were pretty close. They both ran track at ND; Rocket's fastest 55m time was 6.07. Rossum ran a 6.88 60m. If you convert Rocket's 55m time to 60m he probably nips Rossum. My guess is that Rocket was faster than Rossum in the 40, but Rossum probably wins a 100m race.

Yeah, that Fuller 75 yard TD on the first play of the game was sweet. He beat Adoree Jackson, USC's fastest player.

That’s who it was. Thanks. And Adore did NOT close on him.

The shark also had that weird football speed. On the field he just looked like he could change into a gear that was hard to catch.

Them there is Lenzy who reportedly has the gear but I have just never seen it. He always seemed to get caught and slams his fist to the turf like “man, I was almost gone” but never is. Maybe this is the year.

He is very fast and he likes to hit. Sold! He also will put effort in to get Greathouse and already thinks he will come here.

Fastest to ever wear blue n gold? What about Rocket 4.26 40 ?

I’m super confused how Greathouse isn’t a Texas lock. He’s a great WR that lives in Austin and Arch just committed.

Chansi Stuckey, MF, high academic kid, friends with Braylon James, maybe he wants to get out of state, we've been the better football team

Yes we have. It just seems like they’d be a player in his recruitment.

I guess you haven't watched Texas play Football the last 4-5 years.

I believe Rocket ran a 4.28 40, not 4.26, but it was an unofficial time. Rocket didn't run at the NFL combine. As best as I can tell, Will Fuller has the fastest official 40 time (4.32) at the NFL combine by an ND player.

As I said in another post, I think Rocket might nose out Rossum in the 40, but Rossum was faster over 100m. Looking at old videos, I think Rossum had a little higher top gear than Rocket did. Just my opinion. Rossum also won the NFL fastest man contest one year. But no question that Rocket lived up to his nickname.

Rocket is to ND fans what jet fuel is to. Jet. Rossum was fast but no one remembers one epic thing he did. Rocket - long list. So just sayin I think u may be right on 100 yards - maybe. But quick acceleration - no comparison

That is certainly a fair take. Rocket had a much more prolific career at ND than Rossum ever did, and of course some of Rocket's exploits at ND are the stuff of legend. You won't get any argument from me on that. On the other hand, Rossum had a much more successful NFL career. Based upon his career numbers, Rossum is probably a top 10 all-time NFL return man.

Not only was Rocket fast, he had football speed.

Bo Jackson was wicked fast, too.

Have you ever watched the ESPN 30 for 30 on Marcus Dupree? (It is titled "The Best That Never Was.") You see Dupree's high school film and it is just jaw dropping how good he was. He was 6'3" tall and weighed 225 lbs., could bench 400 lbs. and ran a 4.3 40. He was an absolute freak of nature and was truly a man playing against boys. Sad he was manipulated so badly by his "advisors" and made such a mess of his career.

Fascinating story. This kid was a super freak! Unfortunately he went from potentially a hall of famer to playing for the Boston Breakers(?).

Luckily for ND, they make one helluva back up plan!
Even if we get all of Ohio State's backup plans, we'll be better than we have been in years. Combine that with the kids that actually do pick us over Ohio State like Keeley and others. It is what it is.

Good thing It’s not what it isn’t!
