Weird that we didn't have to hire the guy to land top 5 recruit jabril peppers who he also coached in HS.You mean we can't stoop to the level of a Michigan program that hires the coach of the number 1 recruit in football this year lol
Seriously though it sucks but if he doesnt want to be at ND then I would rather some other kid get his spot.
But truth be told we did hire Partridge for recruiting purposes which is why his first job with us was in our recruiting office. You guys recruit NJ also so maybe you are aware that the northern Catholic schools act like suedo college programs in that the recruit and recruit hard. Partridge became the best at in the area and built Paramus Catholic from a bottom feeder into a state and national champion in a few short years.
He was hired because the then staff had little experience and knowledge of the NJ and Northeast landscape. And in his first year he killed it there long before getting the Gary commit. Rutgers was the first to try to hire him and there was no way Gary would of ended up there. Durkin tried to bring him to Maryland long after they were way out of it with Gary. The guy was going to end up being a college coach somewhere regardless of what happened with Gary. Partridge's abilities got him the job...his connection with Gary was just icing on the cake.
I don't want ND to ever lose to any team, but I love how the following don't sacrifice academics for athletics - Navy, Army, Air Force, Northwestern, and Stanford (to name a few).
And I consider Navy our greatest rival because of the respect I have for them.
If all you care about is winning without regard to the fact that these are SCHOOL sports, then you can find plenty of others to follow, and most certainly don't give a rat's ass about the student part of student-athlete.
