Just looking at other websites ,it is unbelievable the number of college women 's and men's basketball transfers . It looks like the number of transfers is increasing in recent years . Matt Ryan (ND) plus players from Georgetown ,UConn , and many other players from top programs . Even in the women's game , a top flight Maryland PG ,Destiny Slocum who averaged 11 points a game is transferring and women from other college programs are transferring .

A few reasons . Closer to home , not happy with coach or college , personal reasons , but biggest reason seems to be playing time . Another reason , players moved up from a mid-level program .These women and men were stars on their high school teams and now are only getting less than 10 minutes in college .these kids come to play

Always wondered why some schools don't use all their basketball scholarships, 12 or is it 15 ? ND women usually went 8 deep sometimes 9 , with Young, Boley ,.Nelson in close game . And Patberg and Thompson in routs Short benches keep the high profile star bench players happy .

I think the men's teams get 13 scholarships. With an 8 man rotation or less, if you aren't assured of major minutes as a junior and you crave playing time, you are a candidate to transfer.

It is odd but women get 15 scholarships. Muffet never goes that high.

Men do get 13 and the women 15. Since schools have to make up the Title IX percentage for the female population at the school and most schools struggle to get their numbers right after the hit of 85 football players, it was easier to leave the women's count alone.

And Muffet isn't alone. Several coaches at the bigger schools run below scholarship limits. I don't get the logic of it, as one big injury or a player not panning out can mess up their entire year.

Biggest transfer ever my home town Michael Jordan of women's basketball Elena Delle Donne returning back to the first state!
