Freshman Estevan Moreno capped a sixth-run sixth inning with a three-run homer as Notre Dame took game 2 of its three-game college baseball series at UAB, 7-3, Saturday in Birmingham, Ala.

The rookie second baseman entered the game hitting .105 in 19-at bats. Sammy Cooper pitched three scoreless innings of one-hit relief to make the rally stand up.

The Irish (5-3) trailed 3-1 going to the top of the six after Brayton Brown connected off Wll Mercer for a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth for UAB (3-7). The Irish rally started in the top of the sixth when, with two outs, ND loaded the bases.

Jack Penney forced home the first run on a walk. Pinch-hitter Nick Juaire followed with a two-run single before Moreno cleared the bases with his first collegiate home run.
The two teams meet at 2 p.m. EST Sunday as Notre Dame goes for the series sweep.
