Assuming the ND B-Ball team goes down to UNC today. ND will wrap up it's second consecutive losing season of the Shrewsberry Era. The program was in rough shape when he took over, but was it in worse shape than Louisville? It took Pat Kelsey precisely one season to turn a 12-52 program, 4-28 and 8-24 into a 25-6 team that may get a Top 4 seed in the dance and Kelsey won ACC COY.

In looking at Pat Kelsey resume' he was 185-95 at Winthop He won the regular season conference 4x and the Conference tournament 3x he would have have had Winthrop at the Dance 4x in 9 years

College of Charleston 75-27 2x Conference Champ and the Dance 2x in 3 years,

Shrewsberry in 2 years at Penn State and 2 years at ND he is 65-69 (with a loss today) with 1 winning season (2022-2023) out of 4 seasons.

I am not saying records or resume's count for everything, But, I think the mulligan for cleaning up the mess after Brey is over, and he needs to put together a winning season next year. As we are seeing at Louisville and Michigan with Dusty May, you can turn things around pretty quickly,

Probably easier done at Louisville and Michigan than at ND. Other schools aren't so strict about who they let in as transfers, ND is.

Shrewsberry pretty much is limited to the HS kids he can recruit and a hand full of graduate transfers. So it will take time.

BUT I'm not crazy about his offense. It is the same style he had at Penn State. Just don't think it will constantly work in big games.

Brey was a mini Kelly

good enough to nibble around being really competitive when it matters; but did not get as close as Kelly did.

There is no reason we cannot have a top competitive team
if we can do it in football where its a lot harder then there is NO EXCUSE for not doing it in Mens Basketball.
NONE

The Admin has to make the commitment and find a coach that can get it done'
Do that and the talent will come

In the portal Shrews got a guard from the Ivy league who didn't add much, Michigan got a 7 footer from the Ivy league who shined. Huge difference. He made some errors in the portal, he is learning and I hope he realizes he won't win in the ACC with a 5'10 player as his only star. He has a good class coming in next year but he must build on that, he unlike Brey will play with a deeper rotation which will allow for the team not to get worn out ala Brey. Brey did have a good run built on older guys, he was just allowed to stay too long. When a school allows this to happen it sets their program back years. He thought that 1 good recruiting class was going to grow together and be something they obviously were not. This isn't Louisville or Michigan Shrews needs more time than 2 or 3 years to play his style of basketball. Watching the NCAA tourny it was obvious the ND roster has a long road ahead of them to be in the conversation as a top program. If he sits back and hopes the 4 freshmen coming in will some how turn everything around we all are going to be disappointed and he will be gone.

We just added a post player from N. Arizona. Hopefully we keep him down low on the post. We will have more big guys next year and less guards. Hopefully this will cut down on all the 3 balls.
