Is he better than Shumate? And is he healthy? Are we going to be better at Safety with Tranquil, Redfield and Sebastian (that is a lot of experience.)

He was a 5th year transfer from Cal, got hurt in the Texas game and I don't remember seeing him the rest of the way. Unclear to me if he's been granted a medical 6th year.

I'm sorry but that would just be weird. Is that part of the fifth year transfer rule? That you get two years to play that one extra year? I think that's pretty cool. Once again, it pays to graduate on time. The NCAA makes it worth your while.

I think due to multiple significant injuries he is eligeable to apply for a sixth year, but you never know. ND stated they could have played him late in the season but held back to preserve the 6th year option.

Is he better than shumate? Heck no. He's had a number of injuries and we haven't seen him on the field for nd for any extended time. Prior to injury the word seemed to be he was pretty good particularly in run support and attained the knowledge of the bvg scheme- so he would play. But better than Shumate? He had a really nice sr year, and was a strong run support safety. Probably the most consistent safeties on our roster. Which says a lot about the rest of those guys.

IMO one of the corners needs to go safety and I'm hoping it's Watkins.

Also hope Tranquil is moved to WLB .

Avery is getting a 6th year because he only played in the Texas game and was injured. There were plenty of stories out there leading up to the bowl game talking about how the coaches were trying to preserve him at all costs for next season. If he would've played one snap versus OSU his college career would be over.
