Assistants interviewing ...

It's also a sign of how ridiculous the college grind has gotten. NCAA coaches are now jumping to the NFL whenever possible because it actually gives you time off.
Young coaches move around to gain experience, older coaches move around to move up then gain stability and stay in place unless they are fired

If there was ever a profession that needs a union it is the assistant coaches of college sports.

Some truth to that but is an oversimplification
Feel free to build on it. Seriously, not being sarcastic. I’m interested in what you think.

My sisters friends dad was a top OC and ultimately a head coach. He had a stint at ND under Holtz. It is not an easy profession for someone with a family, especially when the majority of the money is made when you are head coach and these days maybe coordinator.

Only one that to me is irreplaceable is stuckey. Seriously, guy walked in and made wr a strength in recruiting. His in roads in texas are big time.

I know a lot of guys love mason and I do too, but but that's easier to replace than wr coach at ND. Same with DeLand.

I'd rather be recruiting a new RB or st coach than a wr coach with the guys we have coming in.

No worries.

Many of the ‘older’ (not sure what age you are drawing the line) coaches still will leave for the right position. Some examples are Prime (55), he had plenty stability; Brown (71), he was plenty rich and stable; Payton (59); O’Brien (53); Monken (57); Reich (61); guys like Davis and Cutcliffe, etc

And I agree about the life. My neighbor was an NFL GM; have friends coaching in SEC and Big10. Brutal

They are now pretty well paid.... don't think a union is necessary.
What's the good of money if you have to work all the time? No profession should expect it's mid and lower tier staff to be on the job and away all the time.

It's a sign of a strong program.
You know what is not a sign of a strong program? An 8-4 record.

When you can lose coaches off National Championship staffs, and replace them with other coaches, and keep winning National Championships. (Smart & Saban) THAT'S the sign of a "strong program".

Losing coaches off a staff that went 8-4, is a sign the program is merely treading water. Especially, when that program came off 44-6, the previous 4 seasons.

You sunshine pumpers are relentless.

won’t be easy to replace Mason. He was one of the best all time special teams coaches in program history. One of a kind.

At least for now, ND and MF is going to be the place for talented young coaches to get bright lights exposure and bigger opportunities if they do well. Expect the same for Parker and Gino in 2-3 seasons if QB development and offense improves.

Kelly was a great head coach at ND but his coaching tree was garbage, full of people who either stuck around or got fired and replaced. Few were desired by other programs.

Expect MF to replace departures with more young talented guys who are energetic recruiters rather than mature embedded career guys. It’s working in recruiting and player development and now we need to see it translate into W-L excellence.

I’m all for assistants moving on, I’d prefer we have a good/great season though, instead of a kinda crap one and losing coaches.

That's why I feel grad assistants and analysts should be allowed to recruit. They represent the football team and adhere to NCAA regulations[last part is an oxymoron].

Guess you don't understand how it works then.

Don't understand what? What did he possibly say, that reveals that he must not understand how shit works with respect to CFB. Seriously, what? Seemed like a pretty straightforward, general observation to me.

You're so timid when you try to tell people off....

There are other ways to make a living. Until the NCAA makes some changes to crazy NIL and transfer portal ..things aren't going to change.

The one guy I want to see remain on staff is Stuckey. ND benefitted by getting him. Safety coach can be replaced. Dline coach can be replaced. Stuckey would be a huge loss.

Wow, some just don't understand the game at all. Guessing no one is seeking out to promote you from deep fryer to grille. Some folks are just lifers I guess.
Echo, not sure why you or anyone reply to his/her posts. Obviously intended to rile folks up with non-stop negative nonsense. By contrast, Southflorida… is largely critical, but football savy, and puts forth opinions that are worthy of debate.

Or until they unionize and say if we have to travel extra hours then programs can pay for those hours.

What do you mean? Looks like we are getting Biagi from ole miss. Why wouldn’t we want a ST coach that teams finished ranked In the 99 range? Total sarcasm.
