Arch Manning to Texas

A recruiting coordinator from an SEC school that I know very well told me that if the young man's last name was anything else he would still be considered a very good prospect but more of a middle of the pack 4 star player. Best of luck to him going forward. A huge legacy to live up to.

Maybe it's me, but in his highlight vids doesn't look like he plays against the best competition.

Yeah if he was Archie Smith he would be a four star and that is maybe being generous.

Though it is a big coup for Texas.

If Arch Manning signed with Notre Dame, the narrative here would be different.

Hmm Driskell said that 6 months or more ago but you said he doesn't know anything

The Horns have multiple trucks to back up. The only man they couldn't buy is Nick Saban.

Agreed. He'd be top 2-3. Still elite, but the idea of him getting a perfect score is laughable

That's a very fancy prep school he played his hs football. Competition?

would he be the #1 recruit ifhe was Joe Smoe?

so I look at his highlites and 1st thing, instantly, is his release is the release that both Marino and Namath had. Now that is just the release. Strength and accuracy? under review. Competition has nothing to do with the release.

The bigger question is -- who will be leaving in 2024 (or maybe 2023)? Ewers or Manning?

A fast release is pretty much mandatory for any QB hoping to be successful in the big leagues and the NFL.
Byron Leftwich was never able to do that and it was the major reason he flopped in the NFL.

Ewers has already transferred once so if he transferred again, he would have to sit out a year before playing at the next place. He may go pro but he will not be transferring.

Texas has underperformed for years, but their QB play has been pretty good or at least reasonable. The problem has been the defense and OL. They have talent - it's a cultural thing or the inability to coach up players.

considering their overall talent Texas has underperformed for sometime; just do not have the coaching.

Haven't been good at all on the LOS----look at their lack of draft choices on both sides over the past 5 years.

That shouldn't happen at a school like Texas.
