Just curious? What are the terms and length of contract for ND's apparel deal? This latest deal appears to have reached a whole new level!

According to CNN 7/17/2015:

Nike has landed a deal worth $169 million to provide uniforms and equipment for the University of Michigan's sports teams.
The contract is pricey even by college athletics standards. Michigan's eight-year partnership with Adidas, which ends next July, was worth $8 million a year.

Nike's new 11-year deal with the University of Michigan calls for it to pay about $5 million in cash and give the school up to $6 million worth of equipment, apparel and footwear. Nike (NKE) will also pay a $12 million signing bonus.

Documents obtained by the Portland Business Journal suggest that the Michigan deal is Nike's biggest college partnership. To compare, Nike is paying the University of Alabama $780,000 in cash and providing $2.8 million worth of gear this year. Nike also has deals with Florida State, Ohio State and Duke, among others.

There is no definite number. However all numbers have it pegged north of $90 million in cash, merchandise, etc. And the real kicker though is the stock.

So ND can cash in some of the cash value, buy additional company stock, and from what has been published there doesn't seem to be a line of how much.

So every time someone buys gear from:

Any of these schools.

ND makes money

Under Armour stock has roughly doubled since the ND deal was announced. And nobody knows if our deal is just the cash payments, or if it includes the equipment and apparel. That's why some media people are not opining as to whether the Michigan deal is really bigger than ours.

Even after 7 years of mediocre football, Nike still considers Michigan the king of football

Just need to use a different color on the Princeton Uniforms - nothing is original at Michigan - Zero for Bo - this is the iconic coach - was more like a Walmart Manager.

Wouldn't you like to sit in with the guys at Nike when they are running the numbers for the negotiations and bids for some of these deals! Now that would be extremely interesting.

Nice negotiation by somebody at ND. NIKE stock has gone from $1 in 1988 to $112 now in 2015. Assume the guy(s) that negotiated this contract are not the same as the one(s) that negotiated Charlie Weis' contract and extension! :)
