The polling/committee vote is clearly a joke. How many ranked teams has OSU played? Ah, that would be zero. Yet they are ranked in the top 3 in both the AP and Coaches poll. Based on what exactly. They've played a nothing schedule, and really haven't been that impressive at that. it's based on last year, which us exactly what makes all this talk and speculation a complete joke. The current system is NO better than the old way, it's just shifted to a committee of less people. I want to puke when I hear it's decided on the field. That is a complete joke. It never is.

I guess this is "being in the conversation." Check out this FOX writer that has ND 7th. He says ND had a bad weekend with the Temple loss, then ranks Iowa 4th and cites their big win against Pitt.

Exactly, it's just silly. Do they say that NDs win over Pittsburgh is a big win. Of course not. Basically al, the narratives are completely bias, and that was my point in pointing out OSU. What you did last year should have absolutely zero bearing on this season. What really happens though is there is always a bias, and a voters narrative is built around that bias. No different then it was when we had the BCS or before.

We have to defend our schedule, of which we've played 3 teams currently ranked, with PIttsburgh and Temple just outside. OSU has zero to date. So why exactly are they in the top 3?

Die hard, I think every one agrees that an eight team format significantly reduces this silliness factor, and the narratives to explain these biases. We'll still have cyber arguments, which is good for the sport, but the chances of getting the best team crowned is greatly enhanced. Hope ND gets in and the Pac 12 and the big 12 get frozen out, and this will lead to immediate change.

Rivals, you're missing the point. My point is not whether they are bad or not, it's more that they've done nothing this season to say they are good, and deserving of their current ranking.

This I can agree with. I was never for a playoff, but now that it's a reality, it definitely needs to be 8 teams. That to me seems quite obvious. Let's see we have the power 5 conferences, of which one will be kept out each year. How stupid is that???

I don't agree. I think an eight team playoff will result in conference champs getting automatic bids. That is not a positive for the sport.

Well that could be a downside, on that I agree with you. I would like to see 8, but not with automatic bids
