I'm looking forward to great progress under Long! The guy has a reputation of making TE's stars and Mackey award winners. (And Smythe and the two Freshman!)

Is it confirmed AJ is coming back? And, Nelson and McG?

Nelson should likely go to draft; this year is being discussed as weak for O-line draftees. He likely would go higher this year than next. Maybe same for McGlinchey although I suspect Nelson grades out as more ready to NFL scouts.

Don't think another year of tutelage under HH will hurt either as far as draft status

That they want to return to the current situation is perplexing. Both would be high draft choices and both would of course get their degree in due time. ND 2017 will not be playing for anything meaningful.
If I am an NFL GM in the 2018 draft, I would want to know the answer as to why they chose to delay their careers; and also risk injury.

I do not believe AJ is draft eligible.

I agree with Long to TE coach. However, has it been established that is what he is going to do? Heard the podcast, didn't mention position. I assume that would be the smart move.

What an idiotic statement to make. You wouldn't be an NFL GM. And to fault a kid for staying in college to further their education, and enjoy their college life while they can, is moronic. Did you graduate high school?

Perse -- this has to be the dumbest, most self-serving post of your career. Why are you here again? I don't get it. It didn't hurt Zach Martin. It didn't hurt Tyler Eifert, Manti or Floyd. It is called loyalty to school and team. Guess you never played sports in high school. Probably the team mascot, telling yourself under that lion costume that you are better, know better than all the guys on the field. We will be playing for something meaningful in 2017, just like in 2012.

the past few weeks you have demonstrated your lack of knowledge; so any criticism by you is water iff my back.

You failed to list the players who it DID hurt? why? Self serving is your diet.

Put a sock in it and close your pie hole!

Because it didn't hurt any players (can you name one?) You are just pathetic. And oh so boring... Put your mascot costume on and walk around your living room with you dried up Christmas tree. Pathetic.

I remember commenting about Matt Lienart returning for similar reasons.
It had nothing to do will self serving but everything to do with the individual player.
To only want the kid back to serve your team as a fan, now that IS a self serving attitude.

how about the RB from USC east; and a DE from Clemson.
And Jaylon played 1 game too many and that was not lost on a few kids this bowl season.
Byou only wish they return to serve YOU!
1 game, 1play, all it takes.

My ? is why!

BTW

Martin did improve his draft status by returning, Same for Eifort and Floyd.
Manti? probably improved his draft status.

New Year or not, Perse is nothing more than a completly negative, no nothing asshole that clearly did not graduate college, or play any competitive sports

Jaylon was a junior and was ineligible to go pro the year before, and you say my posts don't make sense... And he was leaving. What is your point? You didn't name one ND player who it hurt.

By the way, these kids stick to get an ND degree (or in some cases a Graduate Degree.) Do I want guys like Nelson and McG back? Sure. I want a solid offensive line next year to help with a first time QB. If that's selfish, sue me. That said, I've never faulted a player for going early.

Beyond stupid.

I can see why no one would ever put you in charge of anything.

Quick heads up:
Both McGlinchey and Nelsonnare coming back for 2017, always were going to, and will both likely help their draft stock by doing so.

Pretty simple.

Good answer but a better answer is - Zach Martin, All-Pro.

Nelson and McGlinchey should stay. Great O linemen stock do not drop at all. Both could become more consistent. Offensively ND will be very good . These 2 guys are so important to protecting a new QB.Great WR/ TE and a top 5 oline equals a lot of explosive plays .... if we only play some D? who knows

Well said. Pers has proven over and over again (almost 30,000 times) that he's a complete moron. He's a troll. Nothing he says here is taken seriously.

Thank you for standing up to that worm.
