Don't you need to win something to be considered elite? They replaced an elite coach with an elite coach. Deboer is a legitimate Top 3 coach. Why couldn't ND go after him when Kelly left. Swarbrick got lazy, didn't want perform a coaching search.
Guarantee you he wins something before Kelly and FreemanDon't you need to win something to be considered elite?
At Alabama? He should.Guarantee you he wins something before Kelly and Freeman
Seriously? Versus someonewith zero head coaching experience.I don’t think ND fans would have taken too kindly to having a guy with just two years of Group of 5 experience and some NAIA experience as a head coach.
That had more to do with the coach. At Alabama? He should.
They have won 6 titles in the last 15 years.
That’s ex post facto. What happened at UW occurred after the Freeman hire. I’d bet people would be pissed with his hire considering his resume.Seriously? Versus someonewith zero head coaching experience.
Two years in Washington and he had them in the Championship game.
What did the players have to do with Alabama's success? That had more to do with the coach.
What was Alabama's record prior to Saban's arrival? Saban DEVELOPED the players he recruited. What did the players have to do with Alabama's success?
Anything?
That wasn't his resume when Kelly leftSeriously? Versus someonewith zero head coaching experience.

True, but he was 79-9 as a head coach at Sioux Falls and Fresno State. More accomplished than Freeman when Kelly left. That wasn't his resume when Kelly left
That was never going to get him this job. No way anyone could put that on SwarbrickTrue, but he was 79-9 as a head coach at Sioux Falls and Fresno State. More accomplished than Freeman when Kelly left.

Respectfully, I see so much “well about that QB” or “well why not that coach”. It’s almost always based on information after the fact.True, but he was 79-9 as a head coach at Sioux Falls and Fresno State. More accomplished than Freeman when Kelly left.
Probably right. High risk/high reward type of hire.My point is, Swarbrick took the easy route, let's be honest, he didn't perform a proper search.
The guy a lot wanted is 9 and 7 at WisconsinMy point is, Swarbrick took the easy route, let's be honest, he didn't perform a proper search.
I agree hindsight is 20/20. My point is more that there really wasn't a coaching search. They decided on Freeman after 2 days.Respectfully, I see so much “well about that QB” or “well why not that coach”. It’s almost always based on information after the fact.
Matt Campbell at Iowa State was more qualified/proven than Freeman just based on resume. I’d guess that most would have wanted Freeman over Campbell. What if Campbell then blew up? People would be saying “well why didn’t they get Campbell?!?”.
Yea, so? Wisconsin is not Notre Dame. The guy a lot wanted is 9 and 7 at Wisconsin
So him being unsuccessful at his only p4 job is meaningless, okayYea, so? Wisconsin is not Notre Dame.
and you thought Leonard was a 1st round NFL QB, with a strong arm and accurate. 🤣So him being unsuccessful at his only p4 job is meaningless, okay
Exactly.Seriously? Versus someonewith zero head coaching experience.

DeBoer hadn’t established anything yet then. Was beginning for sureThey replaced an elite coach with an elite coach. Deboer is a legitimate Top 3 coach.
He's 106 - 12 as a head coach.
Why couldn't ND go after him when Kelly left. Swarbrick got lazy, didn't want perform a coaching search.
He was a combined 79 - 9 between Sioux Falls and Fresno State.DeBoer hadn’t established anything yet then
Never said accurate. He does have a strong armand you thought Leonard was a 1st round NFL QB, with a strong arm and accurate. 🤣
Nd wasn't going to hire him. Just silly 20/20 hindsightHe was a combined 79 - 9 between Sioux Falls and Fresno State.
And what had Freeman established as a head coach prior to 2021?
X2.Nd wasn't going to hire him. Just silly 20/20 hindsight
What was their recruiting rankings before/after Nick? What was Alabama's record prior to Saban's arrival? Saban DEVELOPED the players he recruited.
Fickell is still TBD at Bucky... I don't think people really realize how bad Paul Chryst's last 3-4 recruiting classes really were. The guy a lot wanted is 9 and 7 at Wisconsin
And they almost beat LSU to finish 8-5 though LSU was missing some key players. Still a decent year 1.Fickell is still TBD at Bucky... I don't think people really realize how bad Paul Chryst's last 3-4 recruiting classes really were.
Exactly, who is responsible for recruiting and developing those recruits? What was their recruiting rankings before/after Nick?
I'm not saying they should have. They should have done a thorough search, and it was obvious they didn't.Nd wasn't going to hire him. Just silly 20/20 hindsight
The same thing Kirby Smart, Dabo Swinney and Bob Stoops had established . None of them were head coaches prior to winning a NC at their respective schools. He was a combined 79 - 9 between Sioux Falls and Fresno State.
And what had Freeman established as a head coach prior to 2021?
And you know this how ? That's hindsight and lazy.I'm not saying they should have. They should have done a thorough search, and it was obvious they didn't.
