Not crazy at all, good to see but respect and understand the decisions either way.
Crazy for this era that 2 top 5 picks play in a non playoff situation. Especially at a school like Bama and an opponent like ksu. Sugar bowl was an extremely disappointing year for Bama

Not at all, both have likely already made millions and for some, the opportunity to suit up one last time with your brothers and for your university to play the game you love is well worth the possible rare Jaylon Smith occasion.

Laugh it up but a loss to Kansas State would not be a good look for Bama. Does it ruin them? No. But it might help Ohio State and Georgia gain momentum over them. To Bama, that’s a big deal.

It might not do anything this year, but if they lose to KState and don’t make the playoffs again next year, it’s a bad look and at some point, Ohio State or Georgia are going to edge them and they’re salivating to become that new coolest kid on the block. A loss to KState matters. It’s ammunition for the other top coaches to use against Bama. It takes a lot of moving parts to maintain the perfect machine that is Bama.

If you think Saban talked them into playing IMO you're way off base.
I believe they are guys who respect the game and don't wish to let their teammates down simple as that.
If there is one place that is clearly a football factory its Alabama. But it is within the realm of possibility that you will have players that do believe in that old fashioned type of thing.
I dont see how anyone can’t respect the heck out of them for this move. This is what college football was not so long ago— it was for your teammates, school , the sport. In a world of me and I this is a great move.

Football players that aren’t afraid to get hurt isn’t crazy … I have no problems with players sitting out but an injury can happen in a bowl game, in practice or stepping out of the shower. They can’t hide under their beds until draft day.
I have no proof but my years of following CFB closely lead me to believe Saban did not pressure them to play.
I’ve heard him in the past talking about this very issue. The importance of finishing but I’ve also listened to him several times say how he’s told players it’s in their best interest to go into the draft due to their current draft value/position.

Like I said, I have no problems with guys who decide to skip bowl games. I have enough to think about managing my own affairs. Having faced a few very tough crisis in life I can say that people may think they know what they would do in a situation but until it’s staring you in the face it’s just a theory. Or as Mike Tyson so eloquently put it, everyone has a plan until
they get punched in the mouth.

True, saban advises 3rd yr guys who are elite to go early all the time. It’s well reported he consults wit nfl GM’s and advises kids/ family accordingly. I’m sure Kelly was doing the same thing. We seem to have a lot of 5th yr/6th yr guys but I think it’s more a function of little nfl interest.
