The uga duo is more heralded, but is it really a better and more talented tandem?

Maybe and maybe not. The numbers are similar but the UGA backs have achieved the numbers for a longer period of time. That said, no reason to believe the ND backs will not achieve the same or better over time.

Adams is undoubtably a great RB and compares favorably to the Georgia duo (I put the stats comparisons in another thread). And though Williams may become a great back, nothing in his first two years says that is a certainty.

Right. The ND backs are a year or two behind but the potential is there. It's a body of work over time and, I believe, the ND backs will get there and surpass.

I see this game as a throw-back game.

They may surpass for a single season, but absent injury, it would be difficult (though not impossible for Adams) for either to "surpass" Nick for a career.

Here are their stats:
Chubb. Sr. 33 games. 550 attempts (16.6 carries/game). 3,520 yards. 6.4 Avg. 27 Rec. 331 Yards.
Adams. Jr. 25 games. 293 attempts (11.7 carries/game). 1,932 yards. 6.6 avg. 28 rec. 235 yards.
Michel. Jr. 34 games. 450 attempts (13.2 carries/game). 2,473 yards. 5.5 avg. 55 rec. 525 yards
Williams. Jr. 18 games. 66 attempts (3.7 carries/game). 405 yards. 6.1 average. 4 rec. 16 yards.

Chubb and Michel have both lost significant time to injury, and it could certainly happen again. What is more likely to happen, assuming he has another good year, is that a Adams declares for the draft, making it a moot point. In the end, they will have all had good careers.

Williams hardly even played. Adams may have better college stats but both georgia rbs are better than Adams, the NFL draft will show that. With that said, we have a much better online and running qb that opens up the run game for better stats this year.

Yeah, Adams may not get the overall work Chubb's got over his college career. And, I suspect he will declare after this year. Looking forward to a great match-up of RBs this week.

I think this comparison is pointless. ND and Georgia couldn't have played more disparate offensive systems the last few years. ND has been too pass happy since 2012.

Idk but how can anybody given that Dex gets 5 looks a game... if he's lucky. It's not a real comparison, imo.

6 carries for a buck twenty five? Come on Coach Kelly. What does the kid have to do to get double digit touches?

When comparing YPC, you have to consider the teams those yards were gained against. My inference is that UGA plays a tougher schedule than ND.

Last five seasons; ND's average Sagarin SOS rating is 27.8, Georgia's is 29.2. ND has the slightest edge, but I would call it a virtual tie.

How about prove it in practice?

Interesting Stat from the homeboard:

Nick and Sony, who are on pace to end up as UGA's number two and number five rushers of all time, are about to go into their fourth season with a first time starter at QB.

Makes their numbers even more impressive with all of the stacked boxes they continue to go against.

Love Adams but wish he wouldn't run so upright at times. No doubt he's an elite talent with a good head on his shoulders.

That was honestly the first thing I noticed when watching your game. He seems to be able to break tackles though and he def has the speed to burn. I'm interested to see him run when the holes aren't so massive.

I like Chubb and Michel better right now because of experience and production.

Adams 6.6 ypc with 700 yds as a freshman and 900 yds while injured as a sophomore speaks for itself. He is a good college RB and some think he could go pro after this year.

Dexter and TJ are still waiting for their chance to shine. Wimbush is a very good runner and Georgia cannot ignore that. Be has designed runs, read option and takes off from the pocket.

Agree completely, he has got to have more touches. He's probably lazy in practice that's why he doesn't get the touches according to coach pennis44, the in the know dude who is in tight with bk.

Thata boy, the coaches know something we don't. All we see is everytime the kid gets the ball something good happens. You are an idiot
You continue to demonstrate your lack of intelligence. Are you and Buguit related? Read a book.

Probably not the best game to assess this. Both defenses sold out to shut down the run. And while ND's defense played extremely well, UGA's was lights out tonight.

Truthfully, I was surprised that Chubb and Michel got as few touchs as they did (26 for 136 - 5.2 ypc - combined). Yes, ND had 8-9 in the box most of the game, but there is no excuse for this. Last year Nick and Sony literally had to call a meeting with the OC, Chaney, and tell him to give them the damn ball. Georgia played much better after that meeting...it may be time for another.

Overall, this was a great game that was tense until the very end. I won't lie, I've hated ND for a long time. But now I work fairly closely with a ND grad and as a group you guys have been very gracious (and I've heard the same about all your fans in SB and Chicago), so it may be time for me to revise my opinion.

Best of luck to you and your team for the rest of the year. Look forward to the rematch in a few years.
