This stuff is starting to get ridiculous. Here's a few suggestions for some guidelines:

1. To those who want this board to have some "Animal House" type posts going on during the dead time, do everybody a favor and throw an "OT" at the front of your thread title.

2. If you're the type of member that only comes here for football and Notre Dame, just ignore the threads that are off topic. Let your mouse skip over those threads.

3. Mods and staff: in a dead period like this, it's gotta be tough on you guys to police the board. We get it. But I think at a time where there's really not that much more we can talk about, at least not enough to fill up the board on a daily basis, a little leeway on some of topic stuff is healthy for the board.

Another thing, can some of you guys just stop your whining? And this goes for both sides. We don't need 7 different topics on the front page asking the mods what's going on. It's a little "attention whore-ish"

And we also don't need the same 6-7 whiny little posters coming in to off topic threads and poking the bears.

Thanks

To the board

We like Kroney9ND’s suggestions. Effective immediately:

1) Start non-Notre Dame sports posts with OT to indicate it’s an off-topic message. We will be more tolerant of the material in these threads.

However, if you start an off-topic thread without the OT, we reserve the right to remove it. If the off-topic thread gets overly vulgar or offensive we reserve the right to delete it.

2) Let’s keep the off-topic material out of sports-related posts.

3) We are going to lock all the threads related to this topic. We want to move past this situation under this approach.

We look at our message boards like they are online sports bars. You come here because you like discussing sports and other topics with your friends. We are the bartenders. You want to learn what we know and hear our opinions, but you also expect us to keep some sense of order.

We have to break up fights and make sure no one starts offending the other customers. Sometimes we may have to ask a customer to leave and apologize to those he bothered. Sometimes, after they have repeatedly been a problem, a customer may not be allowed to return.

Our staff – Lou, Andrew, Jordan and Bryan – are working very hard to make this site a great source of Notre Dame sports (particularly football, basketball and recruiting) information, analysis and debate.

We want to treat all our customers respectfully and fairly, and we expect the same from them. We want to provide you a terrific place to discuss Notre Dame sports with others. And we expect and need you to tell us when you think we are doing a good job and when we aren’t.

We think Kroney9ND’s ideas are a big step in reaching our goals.
