I caught up with Notre Dame 2025 safety target Ethan Long on Friday night.
The Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick product looked the part at Notre Dame’s Evaluation Camp III on Thursday. Even though he had an offer prior to camp, Long said he wanted to show the coaching staff nobody outworks him.
“The camp and visit was huge,” Long told Inside ND Sports. “They show so much love and take me in as one of their own every time and It just keeps feeling like home.”
Long, who visited back in April, believes his chemistry with safeties coach Chris O’Leary took another step in the right direction.
“Coach O'Leary and I bonded so much over two days it made my relationship with him much stronger and made me trust him to develop me over my years,” Long said. “When he relates me to Kyle Hamilton, it really makes me feel good and want to work with him.”
The 6-foot-2, 188-pound safety is not rated or ranked by Rivals currently.
Long reports 18 total offers including Notre Dame, Duke, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. He told me he hopes to return for a game day visit with Brunswick teammate and fellow Notre Dame target, 2025 offensive tackle Matty Augustine.
“The Irish are coming and I can't wait to see what they do,” Long said.
