Very Manageable!

@ Texas A&M-W-coaching change.
Northern Illinois-W
&Purdue-W
Miami(Ohio)-W
Louisville-W-revenge game.
Stanford-W-getting better but still bad.
@Geoegia Tech-W-second toughest game on the schedule.
Navy-W
Florida State-W-no qb and the entire team has transferred.
Virginia-W
@USC-toss QB.

Anything less than 11-1 and Freeman has questions to answer.

who is the 12th team? So far, the 2024 schedule only has 11 games.

While we can’t take anything for granted, on paper it seems that this schedule is easier than this year. FSU, Texas A&M, Southern California and possibly Louisville will be tough games. That said, we should be competing for a playoff run. And we all know the special historic significance with certain third year Notre Dame coaches.

At this point (end of 2023), the 24 schedule looks very manageable. For ND and others, how will the portal help/hurt a team. How was the recruiting class? And then injuries and the locker room. Teams have to stay healthy and get along. There will be a good amount of 1 and 2 loss teams in the 12 team playoffs next year.
ND is starting to build some depth, quality depth.

FSU is in on two highly rated portal QB’s. The mortgage the farm on this year and it almost paid off a lot of their players could have gone to the NFL last year. I think they got a total screw job of the decade

They certainly screwed the pooch in their Bowl game!

ND Army at Yankee Stadium is official. 11/23
I don't like that ND has to "travel" to NY a week prior to having to travel to California -- the less wear and tear of travel, especially that late in the season is key for the players.

Notre Dame isn't Iowa.

A lot of changes with transfer portal these days, but let's look at our 2023 opponents' 2022 final F+ ranking.

@ Texas A&M (#18)
Northern Illinois (#98)
@ Purdue (#80)
Miami(Ohio) (#64)
Louisville (#24)
Stanford (#104)
@ Geoegia Tech (#58)
Navy (#112)
Florida State (#13)
Virginia (#92)
@ USC (#20)

This schedule is ugly AF. We got *maybe* 3-4 competitive games next year with maybe 1 top 10 type of team on the entire schedule. What is worse is that after the 3-4 competitive games, the entirety of the rest of the schedule are all cupcakes with an average final F+ ranking of 87.5 in 2022. We are not just playing bad teams, we are playing on aggregate bottom of the barrel competition. The worst of the FBS.

If you are a 5-star prospect looking at NDs schedule over the last several years (and into the future), you would probably choose the SEC or BIG too.

But hey we will be about 10-2 with a top 12 CFP ranking (before predictably getting ran over by a top SEC or BIG team in round 1 that actually successfully recruits 5-star players). And ND fans will somehow still be happy and optimistic about the future because of "10 win season" and "making the playoff" despite ND being stuck in 15th ranked (F+) tier 2-3 hell with a roster full of tier 2-3 talent for another couple decades with no shot whatsoever of winning a national title. SMH.

Anybody else find themselves skipping notre dame games these days?

From early 90s to mid 2010s it seemed like every game ND played was a ratings buster/big time event on Saturdays. That feeling is entirely gone. Maybe it's just nostalgia ? i don't know but these days i pretty much tune out the bottom half of the schedule because the wins don't really mean anything. Nobody is really watching and nobody really cares.

Maybe that doesn't negatively impact the brand RIGHT NOW/THIS SECOND but over time I think it will.

Everything about present Notre Dame just seems watered down, deceptive, and taking the easy way out. The schedule, the roster, the coaching staff, the product in general, etc.

I'm desperately hoping the new AD/university president have something greater in store for the football product and NDs many loyal fans going forward. Jack Swarbrick and Father Jenkins were a total dud in this regard.

So according to your own silly ratings, we play 4 top 25 teams

No. Never. I watch every single game and any true Notre dame fan does the same

There's 12 games on a schedule. A schedule should be judged in its entirety from the best teams on the schedule to the worst. ND playing 4 teams that finished inside the top 25 last season is not so bad, but it's the other 8 games on the schedule that are total cupcakes that really bring the level of competitiveness in the schedule down. There's also a very noticeable lack of elite competition absent from the schedule (e.g. no first tier teams with a realistic shot at winning a national title)

Your schedule is extremely important in terms of the branding and marketing of your football program (which is also very important on the recruiting trail).

When you got like 6-8 games that people can safely ignore because the teams are ranked 90th out of 130th on aggregate your brand is suffering immensely as a result.

I remember when ND used to play top 25 teams nearly every week and the worst team on the schedule was Navy (and even Navy had some runs where they were really good). ND used to sign recruits because of the unique competitiveness of their coast-to-coast schedule (nobody is signing at ND for their schedule in 2024)

It's ABSOLUTELY INSANE how far the schedule has fallen from those days but nobody seems to care. GO ND!! WOO HOO !! 10 win season with 8 games vs cupcakes coming up. With ND marketing THE HELL OUT OF its 10 wins too lol

Thats insanity. The goal is to make the playoffs so teams are not going to play a bunch of highly ranked teams. Get with it chaseball, quit living in the past

It's a better schedule than Michigans last year

That is a stupid way to schedule.

That is a stupid way to schedule.
If you want to join the first tier of programs you HAVE TO beat the first tier of programs. ND might go through the entire season without an opportunity to win any tier 1 games. This will just solidify their status quo position as a 2nd rate team

Nobody is going to respect a Notre Dame team with a 10-2 record that went 2-2 vs louisville, usc, ta&m, and fsu. 10-2 might not even get them into the playoff with this sorry schedule.

The only way we will get respect is winning playoff games. Get 10 wins or more every year and you'll be in the playoff almost every year. Then win some playoff games and gain respect

The schedule is fine

Bullshit. Tell that to Jim Harbaugh and the garbage regular season schedule Michigan played last season.

What a bunch of BS

A soft schedule would help ND alot since they will have to win road games not being a top 4 seed. It gets alot harder now that you have to win atleast 4 games to win the championship.

They certainly screwed the pooch in their Bowl game!

True...but they had half the starters opt out (QB, DE's LB's, DB's, RB's, D and O line)...and were left with only one true freshman QB on the roster as the #2 and #3 opted out....FSU did have 12 invited to the NFL Combine...more than Georgia, Alabama, Penn State, etc...

Work hard...go 13-0, win the conference...get snubbed....they were through with the CFP...on to the NFL.
