2017 Notre Dame Defense vs 2012 defense TFL'S

The 2012 Notre Dame defense had 70 TFL's after 13 games.

The 2017 defense allready have 61 TFL's after only 8 games !

The 2017 Alabama defense have only 52.5 TFL's after 8 games!

Our defense gets more TFL's than the mighty Crimson tide !!

In 2012 Diaco's D was more of a bend dont break defense. we are much more aggressive this year. I can't imagine how good they would've been in 2012 with this staff.

The 2012 defense also only generated 23 turnovers for the season. This year, we've already got 18. 2012 was quite a bit better at rushing the passer though.

Speaking of turnovers.....2012 defense had to deal with an offense that put them in a bind with turnovers, and 3and outs putting lot of needless pressure on then.

When you are blowing teams out -- you do not have to rely on a pressure defense either. Bama has not been tested for the most part all year.

I actually meant 12, but I guess you can say from 2010 to 2016 turnovers were an issue

Thanks to Matt Ballis the 2017 Irish front seven is maintaining speed and football functional strength as the season wears on. Also thanks to Mike Elko the 2017 front seven is much deeper and fresh due to a larger rotation. Stephan Tuitt got his 12 sacks early in the 2012 season and got nothing towards the end of the season and against Bama. Nix also started sitting out more plays. Kap Moore stayed in ggod shape. Manti Te'o turned into a slow safety and got run over by the Alabama running backs. The 2012 D may have had more star power but they didn't have the stamina and functional football speed and power of the 2017 Irish. Daelin Hayes Tevon Coney , Kahlid Kareem, Julian Okwara, Jerry Tillery, Andrew Trumbetti, Stephon Bonner, Nyles Morgan, Drue Tranquill and Greer Martini are maintaining or improving strength and speed as the season goes on. This is a tribute to the new strength and conditioning and nutrition and depth that will give a team like Bama fits in the playoffs.
