Common opponents--- 2015 Irish beat Temple 24 to 21. 2017 Irish beat Temple 49 to 16. 2015 Irish beat Boston College 19 to 16. 2017 Irish beat Boston College 49 to 20.
And the Georgia loss was close the whole game --- The Clemson loss we were getting beat bad until a late comeback.

*** The passing game was much better for the Irish in 2015 and the rushing game was good too. But the offense committed more turnovers.

*** The big difference is that the Irish defense in 2017 is much better than the 2015 defense.

*** Also when we get Kevin Stepherson back he has shown the skills to blow the top off of defenses like Will Fuller which will also help the other receivers get open like EQ.

*** Wimbush is a very inteligent guy--he is a finance major-- and he has a strong arm---he will get the passing figured out and when he does LOOK OUT @!!

Go Irish !!
Beat Sparty !!

I think the main difference is the 2015 team had leaders like Day and Smith on defense and Fuller, Stanley and Prosise on offense. The 2016 team had nobody step up to replace them. I've yet to see real strong leaders emerge on the current team, but am hoping they do.

I'd have to disagree about this year:

Drue Tranquil, Greer Martini, Myles Morgan = solid leaders.
Mike MQ, Nelson, Adams = solid leaders

Stu...in total agreement with your post. We can quibble over names because so many have stepped up. I would say Tranquil and Morgan and Watkins for example, but your point being, ND does not lack for on field leadership this year!

I'll give you Tranquill, but I'm not seeing that much from the other. Hoping to see more from them.

It's hard to compare a team that finished their mission with one only three games into the season. I think when your two big stars on the offensive line show up for ST's meeting week after week demonstrates real leadership. When teammates hold each other accountable in practice and on gameday-I call that positive leadership. The captains meet with Coach Kelly every Monday to discuss the team and any internal issues is another example of leadership.

Nice comparison. Well done.

Totally different team and makeup. Also added pressure to perform with the staff overhaul and a 4-8 season. I think MSU presents a nice road test to see what we have.

Wimbush is looking like a future Captain as well. He was happier then Nic was when they connected for the TD week one. I liked Kizer a lot but he never, imo, emerged as a leader.

To Kizer defense he was never in a clear cut #1 job position.

Maybe BK was in fear of hurting Zaire feelings I don't know but you just never had a sense like Kizer was always the main man on that sideline.

Three week comparison:

2015 Notre Dame 3-0 and ranked 8th. Defeated one ranked opponent (14th ranked Georgia Tech 30-22).

2017 Notre Dame 2-1 and unranked. Lost to one ranked opponent (15th Georgia 20-19).

In a locker room scene after Zaire was injured... BK told his parents it's still his team
