SC AD and HC have both recently refused to signal SC will extend ND contract beyond 2026.

A glance at future ND schedules may hint at ND planning for SC to drop off schedule. Texas, Bama, Clem, FSU, Florida, Miami (all 3 FL schools in one season!), Michigan, etc.

That's a bad job by our AD and whoever else who are making some of these future schedules

Lincoln Riley and the USC AD do not have final call on that decision. The political power structure at USC goes way, way beyond those two.

F USC then. That is truly pathetic. I guess USC's days of having the upper hand over ND are about done. At least from their perspective it is. Chickenshits. I don't see any reason why USC can't flourish in the Big Ten, in the age of NIL and the portal, and all of it. Nothing needs to change for them. The Big Ten is no more difficult to win in than the PAC 10 was. But that was when USC was good. Now it appears they've resigned themselves to being second rate. Second tier. And are scheduling accordingly.

Well it was nice knowing you guys.....

Lincoln Riley has always shied away from the big boys when he could. Bolted OU when it was announced they were joining the SEC. Thought he'd be a big fish in the PAC 12. Now he'll always be a guppy in the BIG 10. Arguably the most overrated coach in the country given the compensation level.

Well, when you guide Oklahoma teams to three CFB Playoff appearances when it was 4 teams, and you coach three Heisman Trophy winners, you aren't clueless. Lincoln Riley can coach offense, and he coaches offense really really well. The other side of the football for Riley? Certainly a struggle.

Never said he couldn't coach offense. That doesn't change the fact that he runs when things get tougher. He's your classic path of least resistance guy. Offense is definitely his strength. Program building is not.

the greatest intersectional rivalry in the history of College Football and the punks at USC want to dump it
what a surprise
Obviously those who are considering that decision do not understand the history between both universities. Sad day in my opinion if it happens to be canceled

The vast vast majority of true USC people want no part of ending the annual Notre Dame game.

Going to the midwest to play Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa just isn't the same.

Stick to your day job, if you have one. You're clueless.
Scheduling the Clemson series was a good job. Having Bama Texas Clemson SC Miami FSU on a schedule for a year or even close to that is a bad job. Then Michigan and Florida go on the schedule.

The goal is to make the Playoffs every year. Some of the schedules could make that close to impossible depending on how they fall or at the very least an extremely tough ask. That doesn't serve the program best

You are clueless is right

You are assuming all of those programs will be good at the same time. FSU was a dumpster fire last season, SC was not good, Alabama had multiple losses, and Clemson had multiple losses, that leaves Texas and Miami that had good years.

Playing Texas, Alabama, Clemson, Florida St., USC, and Miami in the same season is a tough go for anyone. Especially with the transfer portal, a system that does not allow Notre Dame to recruit like most other schools are allowed to do.

Wut? Clemson won the ACC and made the playoff last yr. Miami did not.

Bama finished top 15 reg season.

That would make it 4 top 15 teams by this years standard.

Texas Clemson Bama Miami all top 15 teams

SC almost clipped us at the end.

That's not counting GT Syr FSU NC state who all have the chance to be good or bad. What if 2 ended up having really good years. Now your looking at playing 6 or 7 ranked teams in a year and 2 teams usually top 10 in Texas Bama and Clemson

Challenge yourself of course but make sure you are giving yourself the best chance at making the playoff

Agreed. It seems senseless as well. I don't see what USC stands to gain, other than they fear they're going to lose to ND all the time, and that's just too many losses each year along with playing in the big bad Big Ten. And they figure they'll lose four out of every five to us. I"m not sure what else it would be. Even though they barely qualified even for a bowl this past season, and still came fairly close beating us when we ended up as a playoff finalist. They really weren't that bad.

So I would say they're underestimating themselves. And I can't think of any other reason why they would want to end the rivalry. Even for non-sentimental reasons. Unless there's some esoteric business consideration I'm not thinking of.
