It's pretty sad that some of these guys have multiple handles talking back and forth with themselves (while agreeing with themselves also). I guess it's to balance out Argus.
Kellys actuall record is 9-4. Kelly has lost 3 or more games 5 of 6 years, which is pretty pathetic considering the talent and easy schedules. I guess that happens when you never win big games yet lose to Tusla, Northwestern, Pitt, USF, Navy etc

I would submit that a case could be made that saban actually is not as good a coach as claimed. Alabama clearly has more talent then any other team yet keeps losing at least 1 game a year.
That's why you have to expand the sample size (every team is prone to losing a game or two every year simply by nature of the way the ball bounces a few times)
But when you expand the sample to 5 seasons worth of games, there are very few teams (actually zero teams) with this kind of resume: 62-7 (good for a 90% winning percentage) with 3 national championships.
The fact that no teams have this resume also reflects the fact that no team has Alabama's talent

Correction, it's very difficult to judge how good Saban is with the X's and O's of coaching, because in 98% of his games he has better players than the other team has. But recruiting is a big part of "coaching" in college football, and he's obviously very adept at that..

Recruiting isn't a big part .. i'd argue it's the biggest part (not just recruiting, but talent evaluation as well).
Although the latter matters less at Alabama since Saban pretty much gets to pick (doesn't really recruit) whoever he wants in the south east region (basically has his pickings of the top 10 at every position then everybody fends for the rest -- kind of like a lion eating the meat and the hyenas eating the scraps left on the carcass).
More likely, this result shows how difficult it is to go undefeated during a season and shows how unreasonable many fans can be when they demand undefeated seasons. Not a valid or reasonable stat for measuring or comparing coaches.
