B. Turner to a anterior cruciate ligament injury , I wonder how McGraw will adjust to this huge loss of Turner in the Ohio State game . Krista Nelson because of size will get playing time in low post ,how effective ? Really Undersized ND , Westbeld , Boley and the guards, Mabrey , Allen ,Ogunbowale , Young have help in the paint . I'm not posting anything new in approach to Ohio State game .But I just wonder if McGraw might have few surprises .

I am not seeing any easy solution. I have not read about any. McGraw is a good coach. I guess we will see just how good.

I looked up the odds. All that I could find was ND -7, in short we are favored. I can't tell if that was pre Turner news odds but since she was hurt during the Purdue game and did not play the second half, the odds makers must have known she was unlikely to play. That is showing a lot of respect for ND if we are expected to win by 7 despite losing Turner.

I hope Turner can recover in time to play next year. ACL's take awhile to recover 100% from.

I just looked up the roster and they only have 11 players - women's basketball is allowed 15 - what is going on here - I can see saving one for the next year, but being 4 behind highlights the lack of depth here, especially with a key injury.

Watching the game the other night, the offense had no flow - that used the be the ND style, lots of passing and movement - with all of the success this team has had I don't understand the roster situation and the lack of team chemistry to play team basketball.

Read somewhere, on und.com perhaps, that Muffet prefers to keep a smaller squad of only 12 players. Can't remember why. But she has been quite successful with that. Only one National Championship, but quite a few close calls.

We will see what these ladies are made of. This team has plenty of talent. It all comes down to, " how bad do you want to win?" They can get to the big game. They have to go for it with all they got. I know they can win. The ladies have to believe in each other . McGraw needs to set the tone in practice. Here's hoping they can overcome. Go Irish!!!

McGraw wouldn't be in this position if she had recruited better post talent. It's sad that Turner is out and yet this situation could have been mitigated had the staff signed at least one more comparably talented post in the 3 years that Turner has been at ND.

They didn't and now the team will once again be eliminated during the S16 weekend.
All you have to do is look at the back ups for Turner to realize how poorly the staff has recruited this position. Having Turner quality back up(s) improves Turner's game as well
as the back up.

I feel for the team. McGraw doesn't seem to mind as she repeats this behavior each year expecting different results. She has already set up this circumstance again for the future with the '17 and '18 classes. No bigs (meaning more than one at the position), no title.

What would Geno do? Win another title with depth at the position.

They had another post player - Taya Reimer - but she transferred. I suppose that's McGraw's fault too??? Injuries happen. Stop trying to place blame.

That aside, I don't recall the Irish able to overcome the injury to Achonwa a few years back. They were undefeated at the time, lost Achonwa, made it to the NC game, but couldn't overcome UCONN. I don't think this years team is as good as that team, the similarity being both teams have lost their best inside player. I think they can scratch and claw their way to the Final Four - maybe - but beyond that is a mighty tall order without Turner. We shall see.

you failed to mention that on the 'Chonwa team, the back ups were Wright and Riemer. ND still lost, but the point is this team does not have that kind of quality. If they did ND would stand a chance to make the FF. Not this time.

So I do blame Mcgraw and company for failure to recruit comparably talented post players.

McGraw did recruit two 6'3" forwards ,Danielie Patterson from NY and Mikayla Vaughn from Virginia . Patterson is listed as the 30th best player in the 2017 class and Vaughn is ranked 90 . In 2018 the highly rated forwards and centers are headed else where ,Maryland,UConn, SEC ,Texas.etc .

Maybe ND could look overseas or to Canada for a true center

Again - she did recruit post players. Reimer would be playing right now if she hadn't transferred. Having Reimer would have lessened the blow of losing Turner. So again - nothing to blame McGraw for in this situation.

Thanks for noting the '17 additions. Note also that the afoermentioned players are ranked 30th and 90th respectively. This talent level will not defeat UConn. In '18 McGraw has recvd commitments from 3 more guards and could add a fourth, likely setting up the same scenario described previously. ND has missed on '18 post players already. Something is clearly not working in the recruitment of post players as evidenced by the sporadic additions to the roster of excellent talent plus questionable scouting of those that have been added.

just read that the acl injury is so bad that she could miss next year and have to red shirt

How many all American post players do you think are in this nation?

right now a lot of them are at Baylor and UConn or want to go to those two schools. our irish can get all-americam after all-american at guard like five star and number two rated point guard in the nation jenna brown from Atlanta GA in the 2018 class
