Just not a good passer . Everybody was hoping he would improve as the season progressed. It just isn 't happening and this can 't continue. Into next season. Golson and Zaire were decent but never great Kelly dumped Golson because he thought Zaire was better..Jurkovec ,waiting in the wings .

It happens every time we play a really good team Ohio State ,Alabama etc ,Kelly is in over his head .on top of that, to paraphrase a newspaper, we brought donkeys to a horse race . Miami players were very very quick much more so than ND so Miami coach Richt made adjustments .

A few things have to change ,we need speed .
A new quarterback
Don't be so predictable .
We lose Adams , Nelson, McGlinchey, St Brown , Bars ,a lot of talent .they are not easily replaced
No speed on this team.

Does Wimbush need to improve, both physically passing and mentally? Absolutely. He also has 2 years remaining and is a big reason in the success of this team. I want to see him progress as well but don't write this guy off, he is gonna be a good one.

I am not as sure as everyone else that Adams leaves, he needs to show he can run more decisively and hit holes quicker when the slow developing plays are not working (see GA and MIA). Guys that hit hole quickly like Dexter and Jones Jr had much more success in these types of games.

St. Brown is not going anywhere either, you think there are not 100 st. browns running around the NFL right now? He will come back next year.

Look, it was a perfect storm in the loss to Miami. Yes, they played great and with passion but they also almost lost to GaTech, UNC and FL State...the team we saw is not Alabama, they were just hitting on all cylinders that game and ND came out flat.

Wimbush has improved greatly. He played poorly on Sat night. Getting better isn't always a straight line. He will continue to progress. It would help if his receivers would help him out.

Wimbush confounds me. I have seen virtually no improvement in his throwing motion and in making long throws since the spring game (when I was unimpressed with some of his throws.) Is it me or does he 'fling' the ball? It seems he lacks the tight spiral of a Golson or a Kizer (we'd be undefeated, okay, maybe one loss, if Kizer had stayed.

BW has missed on at least 5-6 deep td passes this year. With Golson and/or Kizer that would have at least been 3-5 tds. I can see the frustration in the receivers (especially EQ - who is getting open all the time! but BW can't get him the ball.)

Really disappointing performance. Don't get me wrong, love the kid, he is a battler and says all the right things but if he doesn't right the ship (despite the constant talk from our coaches saying what a rocket he has) I see a change coming. Miami just gave Stanford the playbook on how to stop our offense and Wake showed them how to crush our D (the middle!)

Despite all of the positives of this year, Kelly needs to take control and win out. (My greatest hope give our schedule this year -- currently 6 opponents in the top 25! Wisconsin, none was 9-3.) But I want 10-2 and a bowl win. We lose Q and McG, Niles and Josh but Bars, EQ Tillery will be back.

First post since the game. I was feeling all of your pain, guys. That just sucked.

All true. He has not improved and I do not think he will. He does not throw a rifle ball like Keizer or Golson. He does not have touch on long throws

He basically sux as a passer. Jurkovec?

I think he needs reps. Lots and lots, he shows flashes and then reverts back. Somewhere he has to apply it all in the game.....

I personally think he figures it out, it’s just not going to be as quick as some people like. ( This season)

It's too bad that he can't throw even somewhat competently, because he is incredible as a runner IMO. Some of his runs were just sick this year -- I think he's a better runner than Kizer, Golson or even Tony Rice. He doesn't even have to throw well, just decently.

He needs to spend the off season with a QB guru. Not Tommy or Kelly. Navy and Stanford are going to play just like Miami did and force him to pass. ND needs to use the bowl game as passing practice for next year.

Wimbush is Duel Threat. He runs well and passes well enough if he would just make teams show they can stop his running. He only ran for survival in Miami. He needed run straight up between T’s. Even 3-4 yards is better than incompletions, and they bring up the DB’/ LBers allowing for over top passing attempts.

Wimbush will improve.

Why should we expect him to improve? He has been at Notre Dame for three seasons, obviously not as a starter. But that is more than enough time for him to learn how to toss a short pass to a back swinging out of the backfield or get the ball within reach of a receiver running a deep route.
