If Zaire runs the read option and becomes more of a threat running that will surely open up the passing game. Tony Rice was anything but a pure passer. However, the style of football Holtz played enabled Rice to become an effective passer when needed. I think Rice holds the most yards per completion in ND history. Not because he was a great passer, rather his ability to run the option allowed for big plays in the passing game. I think Zaire can potentially do the same thing albeit in a different offense. ND has all the weapons to score a ton of points this year. Zaire is the engine that can make it go. Kelly has to be happy because for the first time in his tenure he has experience all over this offense. Zaire is the question mark. Even though he hasn't played hardly at all, he had been working in Kelly's system for two full years. That is a huge difference from when Golson took over as a freshman. We will see how this plays out. For me. I can't wait to see this years team. I think they are going to turn a lot of heads this year.
