Great to add another Corner - how many slots left?

he is a really super low ranked three star but read that he is having a monster senior year in florida and going to move way up in the rankings. a lot of schools are starting to take notice of him because of him tearing it up this season. he is a tall CB at 6-2

My guess is that there are as many as 5 spots left depending on who wants on board.

1-2 OL (Petit-Frere, Mays)
1 WR (Keys or St. Brown)
2 CB (Gordon, Boykin, Taylor, Bracy, etc)
1 LB (Wilson or Tuliaupupu)

Keep getting three star players (247 rankings) like Julian Love, Kevin Stepherson, Ian Book and Deon McIntosh (one of our lowest three stars that year) and we'll be okay! Seems like Kelly and his crew figured something out in 2016. Welcome aboard but be advised, Joe -- pre-med is a bitch!

4 star Brandon Wimbush

5 star Quentin Nelson
4 star Sam Mustipher
4 star Alex Bars
4/5 star Tommy Kraemer
4 star Aliz'e Mack
4 star Durham Smythe
4 star Brock Wright
4 star Cole Kmet
4 star EQ St. Brown
4 star Chase Claypool
4 star CJ Sanders
4 star Robert Hainsey
4/5 star Daelin Hayes
4 star Jay Hayes
4 star Andrew Trumbetti
4 star Julian Okwara
4 star Jay Hayes
4 star Khalid Kareem
4 star Jerry Tillery
4 star Te'von Coney
4 star Nyles Morgan
4 star Drue Tranquill
4 star Nick Watkins
4 star Shaun Crawford

The vast majority of the starters and key contributors on this 8-1 football team were highly rated kids. Let's not fall into the trap of thinking we'll compete year in and year out with a roster full of 3 star guys. You take the ones that fit and the ones you feel are underatted fits.

I will take good football players who want a great education. Could care less about stars.

Our CBs under Lyght seem to be prospering, especially Love, Pride and Crawford. Watkins is struggling right now with tendonitis. He was good earlier but he had a tough game against WF. Vaughn needs another year.

Wilkins is a long athletic project who needs to learn the CB technique. He will have 2 years most likely where his production might not be needed except for on STs. His 3rd year, all the present CBs will havecdeparted.

Need 2 more to go with Wilkins. One needs the advanced technique to contribute early.

Exactly what I am saying IIO. But fill in the class with quality (and overlooked) 3* who because of their potential are really 4&5*. Don't get me wrong, I like the 4*s we have in this class... Obviously we can only compete with the Ala and OSUs with this kind of talent AND guys who will stay for 4&5 years. Would love to finish this class with a few 5* players -- like Nelson...

By the way -- I haven't read anything about Avery Davis this year? Is he leading the scout team? Book looks to have sewed up the backup spot and Jurkovec thus far has completed 157 of 210 passes (74.8 percent) for 2,571 yards with 25 touchdowns and four interceptions … Also has 72 carries for 697 yards and 15 scores. I guess Avery is the 3rd QB next year with Jurkovec taking his red shirt? Then Cade MacNamara (nearly 3000 yards, 37 tds, 5 ints, so far this year) joins the list -- not to mention BW still has two years left after this! Do we see a position change for AD? Did he play any D in high school. Corner? Or slot? (I hesitated to post this as the kid hasn't had a chance to compete for the position and he was a great for that class recruiting, but I always hate to lose great athletes if he decides the position is just too crowded.) And Holtz helped several guys have a NFL careers by convincing them to switch.

It's a fair post. The reality in today's college football climate is that you aren't going to keep 4 legitimate starting caliber quarterbacks on the same roster. 1-2 will feel like they can start elsewhere and transfer out. Moving forward, Wimbush and Jurkovec are the priority. Book you'd love to keep on the team but if I'm that dude, I probably go start for a P5 program is I can find a good match that will get me a good degree. I'd love to see Avery Davis play another position. He's a really good athlete. Way too early to have an opinion on Cade McNamara's place in the program. I will depend on how Jurkovec progresses.
