Watch a tape of Eric Penick's touchdown run vs SC in 1973. You will see Ara running toward Eric and giving him the biggest hug you will ever want to see. Ara loved his players, and I think they loved him.

the seems a lack of former players relating how much they loved the guy. Have any of the former players commented about having a close relationship with Kelly? how he acted as a life mentor or set a leadership example? he comes off as distant and unapproachable. There are players, there is a staff and there is a head coach. 3 components of a team, but do they comprise a team? a band of brothers? Is 'we are ND' just a fancy Nancy jingle phrase?
