What is the deal with Notre Dame and 5 star recruits???

In the last several cycles we have lost Greg Bryant, Eddie Vanderdose, Gunner Kiel, Ishaq Williams (partially), and even Manti went mental on us for the bowl game and James Aldrich was a wash.

Is it just bad luck or is there some issues here Notre Dame needs to address? It is frustrating as a fan.

We have lost more 5 star recruits that committed than we have kept. What is the problem?
