If they had just worked with him a little so he could coach ND and win big. How many titles would the Irish have won by now?

Can't sell your soul to the devil to make it happen.
Urban is somehwere just shy of the demon seed. Just wait. Things will take a turn for the worse in Columbus before you know it.
I personally am thrilled that he never ended up in South Bend.

There was no deal or near deal. Florida already had Meyer signed up when ND contacted Meyer. Another hair raising post by the alleged ND fan.

Exactly..... and the main reason he went to Florida was for ease of recruiting. He didn't have to travel all over the country trying to recruit one player. He could see and recruit 3-4-5 four and five star players in a day and still be back home in Gainesville to watch his daughter play HS volleyball at 7:00.

re the OP post:
for one thing we would not nor ever had endured "continuallyBS" and 'their' other 2400 aliases (see cornfield)!

Whether the ND roster was "full" or not, it goes against Urban Meyer's previous statements. He took his BGST team to the campus so the lads could just "imagine". He also was quoted as saying that ND was his dream job. He had been quoted again that ND is STILL his dream job. His dream job with conditions I'm sure. Never say never but Urban Meyer will probably not coach at ND in this lifetime. He has no real interest in going to the NFL so it looks as though OSU is going to be his Urban kingdom for awhile. We can win with BK but it concerns me that it won't take much for the guy to head to the NFL. Then what?

This is true. And it seems like the top coaches just don't want to come yo ND. This has to be a concern if your the AD. You are the most storied program in CFB and yet coaches don't want to come here.

No, it is not true. Even Meyer has publicly announced that he was never offered the job.

Urban Meyer? Who is that? I'll tell you who that is.

It is Jimmy Johnson part deux. Wherever he goes he wins. How? Well he has taken the JJ approach. Let the players run the ship ....hell let them run wild with no ramifications. Does it work? Short term, yes. Long term it creates a mess in the wake.

Jack:

Urban followed his Dad's advice choosing between UF and ND. That was if you want tradition go to ND, if you want to win championships go to UF. As it looks, Urb could probably win a championsip at a lot of schools that are willing to adapt to what it takes to win.

And, yup Kelly would head to the NFL if he had a taker; first he needs to win something at ND! to get them to look seriously at him. Some ND fans have bestowed 'top' coach status to him too easily; reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld with the baby - the ugly Baby that the psrents and the delivering Dr. thought was so amazingly beautiful!
All parents think their baby is beautiful.

This time ND ought not be caught with their pants down with bright young Coaches In waiting on staff.

During Meyer's stint at Florida, they had something like 35 brushes with the law. He would never had lasted at ND with that kind of record. ND has always worried more about their "image" than winning games.

Coach Meyer will NEVER head Coach the Fighting Irish.

The only reason he coached 2t ND at all was because he was breaking into the coaching business.

Coach Meyer said years ago in one of those visit to ND before going to Ohio State, that you must look at the roster before accepting any coaching job. In 2004 we just fired Coach Willingham and ND was butt deep in the media accusing ND of a racial firing. The roster was depleted in many areas past the junior and senior classes. Even if ND had offered him the job, I don't believe he would have taken it. Coach Kelly has finished the job and now the ND roster is filled with talent. I hope he's here until retirement.
And yet, Charlie went to two straight BCS games?
