The 2016 Irish post-nc state are now a TEAM that needs offense & offensive coaching in addition to everything else!? I was really worried about "leadership".....and BVG......to start the year but did not expect our defense to be THAT bad.

Now I'm thinking that our young WR's caused our DB's pre-season to hide their horrible play......and that our DL was not that good BUT neither is our OL. False expectations all around. With an underperforming OL none of our RB's are getting on track plus Folston looks slowed by injury. Yes Kizer is better than MZ (excluding ncs) but MZ never could settle in with a poor OL. IMO MZ should have been our wildcat vs Matthew but alas........our Offensive coaches took the week off.

The 2016 TEAM has really NOT shown us anything. Will they???? I assume BK has been here before and if so needs to REMEMBER what gets things turned around. FAST. BK though is stubborn and sometimes refuses to make quick changes that are OBVIOUS to all. If he continues......he will be gone sooner than later.

I hope ND is not doing Campus Crossroads to tolerate a mediocre football team. Maybe after Father Jenkins gets off politics he will add Leadership to this turnaround.

BEAT da saplings!!!!!

I am just bored and tired of this whole mess.
But:
There will probably have another heart to heartless chat by JS/BK
BK will 'qualify' his weakly tirade remarks.
The player will say he supports his coach.
Everthing goes under the rug.
The team will probably win or lose a sloppy game between (2)too flawed teams (ND/SU)
Then ND will go stealthy for a week.
then
rinse-repeat

This sums up my feeling regarding BK's tenure. Nearly every year we are disappointed to one extent or another. Nearly every year we have to hear one excuse or another. Nearly every year we say, "wait 'til next year".

Time to move on

This one is catastrophic. On top of the abysmal failure was the pre season chest thumping by our AD (aka "Rat face") on how brilliant he is....

Sept 4, 2016 "To really build a program is a four-, five-year proposition, to get all the pieces in place," athletic director Jack Swarbrick said. "And that's what we're seeing now. To me last year was a testament to this program is in as good a place as it's been for two decades. ... And '12 bought us the time to do it right."

beyond clueless.... Some Rivals reporter needs to shove those words down his throat...

if you drop out the 2 high years, this team is very much like the past 20 teams.

The problem Saturday was the weather, and Kelly's offensive gameplan, which was better suited for a sunny day. He didn't adapt to the conditions. Throwing the ball 26 times in those conditions was just stupid.

So I expect our offense to get back to scoring some points this week.

Nit... The majority of Kizer's runs did not appear to be designed runs. So, the pass total should probably be higher....
On a bright note we're # 124 in sacks with 3.

For seven years the offensive coaches took off once we entered the redzone or proper usage of timeouts.

BK needs dismissed.

Glad I did not buy those navy or army tix.......both will be tough games......sigh......
Yeah...but if there's any silver lining ...

If I was forced to accept defeat to a team...

The service academies would be the ones.

And in the events of this season, part of me will be rooting for those service academies.

Part of me always roots for the academies.

Particularly Army this year...they could beat us.
That would actually be pretty cool because playing for what now??:

A six win bowl game? Thanks but no thanks.

Rat Face, "I'm so smart look at the rankings. I built CFB's Titanic...." He's an idiot. Outside of handling the Manti cat fishing situation he hasn't done one decent thing for the FB program.

I'll take a 6 win bowl game. They need the damn practice. Need it badly. Don't let them off the hook and allow them to sit on their asses all December.

Players AND coaches. Let them freeze their tales off all month, hopefully practicing outside.

^ is it possible that the more time the players are around the staff the worse their getting?
Yes, I guess anything is possible. But if JS and admin are deciding to go with BK, then it has to be "all in". Practice your asses off all December, try to win your bowl game (assuming they qualify), and get some momentum heading into the spring/summer.

At this point I think every decision made should be with 2017 in mind, as the priority.

Haven't posted for years, perse, but your post made me think of something.

For years, Buguit, myself and several others were posting the same things about Brey that everyone is posting about Kelly. Not bringing in enough talent, wasting the talent he had, not performing close to what they should have been, yada, yada, yada... (I actually started laughing because a lot of the conversations could have easily been transposed into this current situation.) I can't speak for anyone else, but after the last two years, I'm actually content with Brey as the coach.

Also, I'm a Bears fan and secondly a Steelers fan (since Bettis first went there) and I look at the difference in those two teams. The Bears have absolutely no continuity, change coaches often, coordinators specifically, and the results show on the field. The Steelers have had, what... 3 head coaches in the entire existence of the team? They ride out the bad years but come back time after time. Now, I realize the pros are a completely different animal than college, and college basketball is so different from college football, in so much as one or two players can make up for a ton of issues, but... considering 2012 was the first time in 20 years they have even been close... do they consider continuity a better option?

I'm leaning towards the continuity, but the emotional side wants him gone and I could see them fire him just as easily. I don't see it happening after this season, though.

If they do, I got to see firsthand one of the names a few people have been throwing around. And since my son attends Western Michigan, I don't really want to see him leave, but if someone is going to poach him, I'd prefer it be ND. PJ Fleck. He makes adjustments, the players love him, and he has turned around a team that was really going nowhere. He has also been able to recruit some quality talent to an odd destination. The weather is the same or worse, something you can't say about Herman's teams. And, most importantly, he knows how to motivate and delegate. Just a thought.

ND football is dead. Has been since 1996. Thanks to Monk and Wadsworth. The rest of this shit is redundant. And has been for 2 plus DECADES. God help us ALL.

according to Wiltfong: Kelly is not on the hot seat.

If true that is a testament to:
how weak Swarbrick is
how far ND has fallen!

Not me. I'd rather time be spent on finding a competent staff. If we're going to change that is the time ..the silly season ...to be doing intense interviews, investigative research, etc.

Moreover while I enjoy practice time and the value of it....I would be on board 101% if the teaching was being reflected in the product on the field.

More practice time with our staff ends in regression.

This is not debatable.

Particularly defensively these players show so much promise as freshmen and sophomores..see they still have their great traits from a competent high school coach. We get a hold of them and ruin them.

Not one player ..not one....❕❕...

You can clearly say without hesitation there isn't one player on either side of the ball they progressed as a player from year one to year three, or four.
Not one.

I'm not talking about physically maturing as they are turning into men. That happens. I mean our staff no matter how hard they try can't prevent mother nature. I know it pisses them off they can't ruin that as well,

But seriously nobody progresses. The more we have them the worse they get.

That alone is extremely telling of the quality coaching we are in dire need of.

Hmmmmm......now that I am NOT following ND every day I had some time to look at BK's HC record.......and I was wrong. After GVS BK really has not had any experience with losing except in the 1st years at CMU. His ND 2012 season was true to form......2015 was very close.....BUT clearly this far into his ND tenure 2016 is a bust, which is new to BK.
Let's see what happens......hope ncstate is not the model!!??

BEAT stanford....please?
