Mine has left building and is with jimmy hoffa deep sixed. I was so high. Now Bummed. I thought we were past this garbage showing.

Fact is if Sam is not our QB, do we win this game?

I’m not so sure. Probably squeak by with 3 points. Sad

Hope we finally win this week. Thought we would. Now skeptical we can even compete

Well…

I think they’ll surprise us to be honest. We’ve got some starters that are returning from minor injuries. We absolutely need to clean up the penalties and improve on our gap assignments, but we have the size and strength to matchup with OSU in the trenches. Gap assignments will be key as I don’t think we’re as fast as them so if they can easily get to the edge, watch out. Our secondary is solid and while OSU will make some plays there, you won’t see Harrison Jr 15 yards past our defense for uncontested catches. I think Golden needs to chill out on the “blitz every play” mentality and focus on playing fundamentally sound football and tackling.

Make the young OSU QB complete some tough throws!

Close game that could go either way IMO.

I'm taking the points, even though I won't need them, ND is going to win next week outright. I'll be in the Grand Rapids area on a business trip through Friday. I may have to extend my stay and try to get a ticket for the game. 😂

How would you know...you were too cheap to watch the game? Fraud fan.
How would you know you watched the game and thought we played good. Fraud brain.

I have heard and read the same synopsis from various reporters. It was far from crisp and pretty. So in your limited mind all these analysts who know more about this team than you ever will must be frauds.

Why don’t you just try and be civil and make a contribution to this board cause all you do is throw tantrums like a child

Good to hear. I’m so invested in this season it’s tough to hear we had a bad first half on D. Hoping we bring it all this week

It wasn't bad it just wasn't sharp. Good God, Don't think these kids were looking ahead ? They are human you know. I guess some folks foolishly expect perfection in every minute of every game. Good luck with that.

I refused to pay the 4.99 too.....But I did pay the $400 a pop for USC tickets. Does that make me a cheap fraud fan too? If you are heckling instead of adding value....you are wasting everyone else's time.

I understand the " principle " of it but on the other hand should we feel " entitled " to have it readily available ? The game being on Peacock yesterday is nothing new. Easy to watch it if you truly want to.

i didn't say I didn't watch it....just that I didn't pay the 4.99. More importantly....no other fanbase is having this conversation. That is where my question is.

How many other fan bases have a team that isn't part of a conference with network rights deals ? The ND game was readily available to those who wanted to see it.

Good morning Ski,

I get Peacock and watched a terrible telecast, which was made decidedly worse by streaming problems by my cable network. The offense obviously hummed right along with over 500 yards and 40 plus points, no sacks, no turnovers, etc…. Numbers would have been even more impressive if not for two critical holding calls.

The defense was like a tale of two cities between the first and second half’s. We held them to three points in the second half, got more pressure on their QB, forced three…. three and outs to end the game; and most importantly, we had far fewer missed tackles in the second half. In addition to really poor tackling, we had two stupid roughing the passer penalties and a PI that kept drives alive for Central Michigan. We missed Brown and Bertrand more than I expected.

A partial Yes to your OP; we get killed against Ohio St if the defense that showed up in the first half hits the field on Saturday, and I think we get narrowly beat if the defense that showed up in the second half hits the field Saturday. I don’t expect either. Bertrand and Brown should be back, Harper available again after missing chunks of the second half, and Ohio St will have our undivided attention all week long; and you have to believe that tackling and penalties will be a coaching focus all week as well. I wish like hell that Gabriel was available as we do miss his presence in the middle on defense.

So no, I haven’t lost confidence in our defense; but I also haven’t Seen us as a top ten dominant defense all year. We’re more like a top 25 bend don’t break defense that can rise to the occasion to compliment a top ten offense to beat the likes of an Ohio St. I think we enter this game as the clear underdog, and I can’t wait to see us put together a complete game on both sides of the ball and quiet all the damn naysayers. Go Irish!

I process it this way. NBC puts ND on, they get as rev, they pay us, we get NIL, which attracts players, which builds our team.

Think of it as supporting our war effort against the teams that have ESPN supporting them.

The Irish offense and special teams looks better than what I've seen from tOSU
So going in 2 out of 3 side of the ball looking better is a positive....jmo

Well that depends on how you look at it
The kicking game is better for sure and the kick returns hasn't hurt the irish

Well, mine is extremely high -- this game was not expected to be pretty, nor did I expect ND to perform at a high level -- not like they are capable of. They played at a higher emotional level against NC State, it was not expected they would have that same energy this week -- and there is NO WAY they could do it for 3 weeks in row. If there was a week to let down, this was it.

Sure, would I have liked the game to go a little smoother, sure, who would not. But, I also never felt this game was in any danger of being lost either.

If Hartman was not the QB would ND still have won -- absolutely.

If you would have watched it and not eaten dog crap, you would have realized this as well.

Defense has regressed since Freeman arrived. Elko and Lea were very good defensive coaches. Our tackling gets worse every year. Watching Dukes defense man handle Clemson was like looking back in time. We used to dominate like that. Our LB and DL play is very mediocre. However, I do like our secondary development.

Hartman is the difference and the reason we have a shot to beat Ohio State. The anticipation for this game will be high. I’m not confident in our defense. Hope I’m pleasantly surprised.

Very aligned here

Not sure what the football “geniuses” are watching because I saw the same sluggishness from a number of top tier teams yesterday

Oh, so not fair. Maybe, they were playing the bend but not break defense. ND has given up 5 TD’s this and two of them should not have happened

As TelX can tell you TheSkibro has a bad habit of over reacting when his favorite team does not play well. See Miami 2017. Mea culpa. I hope we bring it vs OSu

Regarding Golden, my sense is that if he felt he had sufficient MUSCLE and ATHLETICISM on the D-Line, he would NOT be blitzing on every play. Blitzing can be the ultimate SHOCK AND AWE weapon or it can be used to COMPENSATE for deficiencies in the FRONT FOUR.

I'm also drawing on my experience here as a player. Whenever teams stunted or blitzed a lot back when I was playing, it was usually because they were trying to COMPENSATE.

I don't watch D-line play that closesly, but my sense is that ND's front four was BETTER last year. There were guys both getting SACKS and PLUGGING THE GAPS. This year, I think ND MUST BLITZ to bring sufficient pressure. And for me, it's definitely a CONCERN going into next week's game.

Well enjoy your pessimism I see it different
Not pessimism. I think we can win the game. You made a comment we have the advantage at 2 spots. I haven't watched all of OSUs games so I asked are they bad at ST because we haven't been that good this year. And we haven't

Being honest isn't being pessimistic
