I am here just outside of South Bend in Chesterton Indiana and it's windy and a cool 43 degrees this Friday morning. I left Houston last night where it was 84. Come Saturday night the West Coast Boys of USC won't be happy playing in the forecasted cool temperature.

HERE COME THE IRISH

Jack Nolan said last night that USC is 1-19 in the last 20 games that they played in cold weather. To us 38 degrees is sweater weather, but to those guys in Southern California, it's cold. I was hoping for 30 degree weather and rain myself.

Only IF ND shows up to win!

BEAT socal!!!

Accuweather says no rain during game with game time temps in the high 30s. A couple of showers earlier in the day. I will be prepared for anything Saturday. What's a little cold weather among friends?

I love cold weather games. I always think it's hilarious when SEC teams are scared to come up north in October and November.

Honestly, I don't think its as big of a deal as most make it out to be. Lots of these kids have seen cold weather/snow, etc before. They're moving during the game.

Sounds like it might be damp and cold. That may make football security a bit harder on the opposing team, but that door swings both ways too.

The one game I remember that weather affected a team was the Sun Bowl against Miami. They came out dressed like they were playing in the Artic. They played stiff and uncomfortable. Their sideline demeanor was one of "get me the heck out of here". They got better second half.

I think cold is like ND at Penn State in '87. I think high 30s,low 40s is chilly but no big deal. Might have an impact on first quarter.

That was the coldest game I have ever been to in my entire life. It was an incredibly cold day.

I was not there; I just remember them talking about how cold it was--an arctic blast that arrived two months early.

I was there. It was significantly colder than 1991 Navy or 2013 BYU. That is saying something.

The 1991 Navy game was the coldest game I've ever sat through. Just awful. Paraphrasing Jeff Jeffers after the game: "If you stayed for that entire football game, you are one sturdy individual."

I know you go to a lot of games....do you go to all of them?

Used to go to all the home games and 1-2 away games every year. I went to the Texas game, but I am not going to the game tomorrow. Getting home at 2:00 a.m. after a day of tailgating and then going to the game is too tough for this old guy.

Please offer some supporting evidence to support your "myth" assertion, instead of criticizing the posters opinion in a snarky way.

Go do your own research. It's not that hard to look something up on your own.

78: I'm with you on the night games. I'm going to the game tonight but it is a long day. I get home around 1:00 AM and I'm basically beat all of Sunday. If they start adding more home games, which I predict they will, I will be forced to miss some of these games. Perhaps just attend the day games or something. I'll cross that bridge.

You live closer to ND than I do. It's three hours each way for me. I think I've attended my last ND night game at home.
The other byproduct of this is that it is evident that all of the "name" opponents will be night games. So those of us who want to attend day games are going to be limited to the likes of Wake Forest, Navy, etc. We will see how that works out in the long run.

I haven't been to as many ND home games as you (irish jack, ndsmc78) but have been to a fair number of them since my girl was a student at ND. I miss those games that started at 1 or 2 pm, meaning that after the games we could go out to eat and go to bed at our normal hour. How times have changed.

The coldest ND game I've ever attended was the one at Pittsburgh (in their old stadium) back when Dan Devine was coaching. That was pre internet time, so my wife and I had no idea of the weather in Pittsburgh when we left the DC area. Start of the game (1 pm) weather was fine … but started getting cold fast … before half time it started to rain … and then turned to snow. Sheesh … we both just had relatively light jackets and tennis shoes. By game's end we were basically frozen! Been to a few cold/rainy/snowy games since then, but we've always been better prepared. (one learns!)

Do they let you out of the nursing home at night?

I was just looking at pictures from the live construction cams around the stadium here online and it looks pretty decent there weather wise. i'm sure it is chilly there just like here in central Indiana but at least its not raining there. wouldn't want any rain to go with the chill there because of the big recruiting weekend

It is chilly and windy but not bad if dresses for it. I am here now in O'Rourkes enjoying some Chili and a Guinness looking for 4 tickets available together.....wind is supposed to die down by 6:00 pm so it should be comfortable tonight in the stadium. I have seen some USC fans and yes Irish fans dressed for 65 when will it be only 38 so they will feel colder than this Canadian who came prepared!

Here in South Bend and the Fans & Team are ready to beat some Trojan ass tonight. I was here for the Texas game and there were so many Texas fans. From the scene on campus it looks like the USC fans are back in Cali. PAZ is a damn fool!

WE ARE ND

HERE COME THE IRISH

Standing in Library Quad waiting or the player walk...feels warmer than earlier....grabbed some gold seats b the team bench....will be cheering all night long...Go Irish!
