We need to beat Stanford 59 to 0 Saturday !!!

I dunno Bodi, I think that would mean they held us to a field goal on a possession. We can't afford that.

I'm considering a hunger strike.

Instead of all the mayhem how about prayer. Or, all join hands and sing Kum-bah-ya.

Kum-bah-ya lord Kum-bah-ya.........

Let's win the game and then it's up to the committee. I'm thinking 1964, 1970, 1989, 1992, and 1993. Human beings will screw ND whenever possible. We helped by messing around with WF and BC. Oh well, that's college football.

To say that ND got screwed in 1970, 89, 92, or even 93 pushes all bounds of credibility. I suppose if we beat Stanford but don't make the playoffs and win a bowl game, in 20 years you'll say we got screwed this year too and point to the Clemson game as the reason.

And it wouldn't hurt for the coaching staff to sprinkle lighter fluid all over Stanford's stadium and burn it to the ground, afterwards!! Anything to impress the committee !!

I was thinking that it would be nice if we could beat Stanford something like USC beat us last year. Come out blitz them with four or five TDs and then just bleed clock the entire second half, but if anything I'm afraid they'll do that to us and win going away.

ND does not have to win big. They can win a close game and still look rock solid but a lot of other things have to happen for ND to get back in. Irish fans need to cheer for PSU, Okie State, and Nebraska. If all these things fall into place, then it could be considered an opportunity for the Irish to get back in. Of course, an Irish lopsided win is always welcome.

Oklahoma and the Big 12 Have been on our critical path all season. We know that either Iowa or Mich St will lose at least one more game, and one of them will drop behind us. Seems to me we need Oklahoma St to beat Oklahoma this week and for us to beat Stanford, and if that happens, we are in the final four. Hope we get good wins from Navy and Temple and Pitt and USC this weekend to further improve our SOS. Beating Stanford is the only thing we control, and this is our conf championship game in the eyes of the committee. They deserve their number 9 ranking and a win at their place would be impressive, and we must.

Maybe you should consider dousing yourself in gasoline and setting yourself on fire outside the committee headquarters. It would make more of a statement. They used to do it a lot to protest the Viet Nam war back in the sixties.

You underestimate how much I like to eat.

The jackass Long said OU looked good in a 1-pt win at home vs. a depleted TCU team. ND needs to win and let the debate begin.

I think Notre Dame wins 34-21
Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma 41-31
Nebraska beats Iowa 31-24
MSU beats PSU 21-14

1 Clemson
2 Alabama
3 MSU
4 Notre Dame

spot on. I only remember 93. biggest screw job ever. The team we beat goes to the N.C. game ? how did that happen ? Media felt sorry for good ole boy Bowden. IF Ok ends up ahead of us - big game bob will get drilled in the first round playoff game like he usually does in most big games.

He put me on ignore, but allow me to give you a primer:

In '64, Ara's first season, we went 9-0, were leading USC when a phantom hold was called, wiping out a TD. We didn't score on the drive and USC came back in the second half to beat us 20-17 on a late TD. We did not play bowl games back then, but we certainly would have been national champions.

In '70 we got trounced by an average USC team in our final regular season game, but we beat #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Undefeated Nebraska moved from #2 to #1 and I believe we finished #2. I don't remember anyone being upset with that.

In '89, Miami throttled us 27-10. Our offense did nothing. Although we were technically still in the game through the third quarter, it was pretty obvious who had the superior team. We beat #1 Colorado in the bowl game, but Miami won the championship and the reason given was they beat us head to head. The only person complaining about that outcome was Lou Holtz.

In '92, we tied Michigan and Stanford beat us badly at home. Against Michigan, we had a chance to win late, but Holtz screwed up and let the clock wind down after a draw play picked up a few yards and an illegal procedure penalty. We turned the ball over about five times against Stanford and they won going away in the second half. Despite one loss and one tie, we got placed in the Cotton Bowl against Texas A&M--which was ranked #3 or #4--and we just whipped them badly, finishing, I think #3 or #4 in the final rankings. Nobody had anything to complain about that year.

You obviously know the story about "93. There was definitely pro-Bowden sentiment, but people also remembered his team played a good schedule, came to ND late in the season (we had an extra week to prepare) came close to a last second tie or chance for the win. The next week BC whipped us for 50 minutes until we staged a furious comeback. The issue was whether ND-FSU should have had a rematch in bowl or if we should have been left at #2 to go up against #1 Nebraska. Disappointing? Sure. Lesson to learn: Don't lose your final game of the year against a team you should beat.

Complaining that we got screwed out of this or that chamionship is one of the two most common themes among ND fans, with first place probably going to who the next coach should be.

OT
With all due respect Stanford has a massive $6+ billion medical center which includes a children's hospital and a cancer research center, among many other things.... (They are rebuilding the Children's Hospital and Stanford Hospital. Both remain open and the project will be finished by 2017.)

Their cancer research is among the best in the world.

I have asked on numerous occasions for ND to start a med school. That entails brick and mortar or as I suggested a local hospital buy out which had been looked into. The cost was over a billion and well under 2 billion to make an acquisition and do it right. We have deemed that "too expensive."

While they are attempting to find cures for cancers and other diseases we can't figure out how to grow/maintain grass in America's farm belt for a field that needs it 6 times a year.

We are a bunch of cheapskates and that is why the tradition of our once glorious field now is a throw rug.

Stanford's endowment is $21+ billion we are $8+

As for burning fields...I'd rather burn our rug.....

PS I'm guessing that our rash of injuries may be somewhat related to it....

I'm also guessing the rubber pellets burning wouldn't be too healthy though...

Oh, and Stanford is going to pay for the wall. They have lots of money

Since you brought politics into the thread. I find Trump refreshing. I hate life time politicians. I would like America to be great again.
