When Kizer was picked by the Browns , I was listening to Mel Kiper and the other draft experts . They really hammered Kizer ,thought Browns made a bad pick in the 2nd round.. Of the little I saw of the draft , I don't remember any of the drafted players getting dissed as much as Kizer . Anybody out there watching most of the draft ,am I wrong ?

Kizer will get over it after he gets his bonus check. Now Kizer just needs to prove them wrong

Meanwhile the Patriots just keep getting better. They will franchise Garropolo after next season and he will replace Brady in the 2019 season. Giselle will make him retire after two more years.

Joe Mixon, complete with video, was raked over the coals , but that was well deserved. I want DK to succeed at whatever he has going for him. It's not up to me to give him life and career advice. He can start learning the mechanics of his position. It's all up to DK himself. Good luck. I really mean that.

I hope BW was watching that crap last night. These football lamebrains will say anything in November and December to get promising young talent out of college and into the NFL Draft. I felt that DeShone needed another year in college to work on his game. I felt the offense took about three steps backward after BK moved over to the defensive side of the ball last season. I think BK recognized it and brought in Coach Long. DK wanted to play in the NFL now and made the decision. I think with what they have in Cleveland DK could win the job this summer. I wanted to put my size 11 shoe down Kiper and McShay's throat last night. I thought a little ESPN bias came out on their broadcast against DK. Their opinion was a lot different that other media outlets (SI, NFL.com, Fox.com, and CBS.com). Get over it ESPN/ABC; Notre Dame Football will never join your family.

"Winner: Browns
The Browns didn’t come away with a quarterback on Day 1, but that wasn’t a time for panic. They took the best players available, shoring up the defense and adding a dynamic tight end in David Njoku. On the second night of the draft, they addressed the quarterback position, catching the falling DeShone Kizer at 52nd overall. He probably won’t start right away, buhe can develop into a quality starter in the NFL."---Fox.com

"52. Cleveland Browns: DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
Grade: A+
The second-best quarterback prospect in this class — a project, but one worth the work — at No. 52 is larceny. Cleveland should have its quarterback.

Ara, I almost enjoy 100% of your posts but this one I'll disagree. I thought Mcshay gave a pretty non homer answer on Kizer. How great would it be for Kizer to learn the position from a top 10 QB? Even sitting on the bench for 2 or 3 years? Cleveland has been terrible on a laundry list of QB's who were more highly rated then Kizer.

Remember now. If EG hadn't left and MZ hadn't been hurt, DK might just be a foot note in Irish football history.

Kelly got the hate train going and others just jumped on!
DK deserved better from those that should have had his back.

Well, if ND had a top draft pick QB and went 4-8, well that is just an idea that was not reflecting well on the coach.

The DK pre draft banter may ultimately be Kelly's legacy.

Interesting that Mixon played the "sorry" card. His lips were moving but it was apparent to me that the guy was just repeating talking points fed to him by lawyers, family, and coaches. Not sure he gave the incident a second thought other than how it might affect him and his future. Kudos to ESPN on this one. They didn't let this guy off the hook.

Now we know why Michigan was so good last year. They've had 9 players drafted in the first 4 rounds. I guess Brady Hoke was a better recruiter than people gave him credit for (since all of those guys would've been his recruits).

22/32 first picks were 4&5 star players coming out of HS.

Pretty stunning because any physical disparity between Watson, Trubisky, Mahone and Kizer is pretty small. I think the Browns got the best value by a long shot. Hardly any, if any, disparity at this moment and Kizers price tag is at 52 vs the price tag for top 12 picks is probably 15m cheaper.

Gil brandt said this in a tweet. DeShone Kizer needs time, but I think he'll end up being the best QB in this draft.5:55 PM · Apr 28, 2017

I think Kiper has lost it.

Lol...people gave him a lot of credit for his recruiting. What he was criticized for was his ability to develop those recruits.

Exactly. If Zaire doesn't get hurt - Kizer never sees the field. He went from worrying about getting a job after college to worrying about what NFL team he was going to pay for.

Gotta strike while the iron is hot, so he bolted for the NFL. Can fault him for wanting to make the most of his opportunity.
