,surprised that ND couldn't put them away early 78-65 The Irish are ranked 6 th .afterward seeing UConn beat Stanford relatively easily .Notre dames defense has really got to step up especially with the addition of Jessica Sheperd 6'4 " inch junior all Big 10 center from Nebraska . It is always the same. ,year after year , ND plays good defense , UConn plays better . ND always wants to get back and score quickly ,lapses on the defensive end.

Watching WBB in November.... that is hardcore! College basketball basically starts out with a 2-3 month preseason. Games do not really matter until conference play. Even then, anyone worth a damn gets in to their tourney.
There are a lot of good non-conference games in WBB early in the season. Due somewhat to UConn running around the country playing all the top teams before they start their dismal AAC conference schedule.
I don't doubt there are good matchups.... but do they really mean anything? Same with mens bball, it really doesn't matter until conference play starts.
In all honesty you could argue that, for a team like us, the only thing that really matters is the ACC tournament and the NCAAs. It's not like we are not going to make the NCAAs. So you treat every game like it's matters. More fun and interesting that way as a fan.
