I really like how this guy coaches. He will lead his team to a 12-0 season this year and play in a news years bowl. He beat two B10 schools this season. Might be looking at NDs future coach. At least a candidate.

There is not a single top 300 recruit in the nation who has heard of this guy and wants to play for him. Perfect for Purdue not ND.

PJ Fleck looked great on his off week last night.

I'll be watching the game tonight at 8 on ESPN2. I too really like this coach. He's a great motivator and coach.

Thank you OP, I feel like I'm the only Fleck guy. He's my 1A option! He is the best recruiter in the history of the MAC, his motto is recruiting #1 followed by everything else. His players would kill for the guy. Let's face it WMU would demolish us right now

Well until Brian Kelly is no longer the coach at ND I will support him. I don't root for a coach I root for the team. Coaching at ND is different than coaching a MAC team, no pressure to win, just make a bowl game and fans are happy. It doesn't work like that here.

Take your head out of the sand. This is the type of attitude and shortsightedness

PJ Fleck will be a great coach where ever he ends up. He knows how to coach. His teams play disciplined. They are very good at protecting the football. Very low in turnovers. He is a great motivator. His players play hard and love playing for him. He is a great recruiter. He has transformed his roster w/ some very good talent for a MAC school. He be an even better recruiter at ND.

I know Zorro claims he will go 12-0 - but, I see them probably losing at least once - not many teams go 12-0 during the regular season and they have a bullseye on their backs now that they are rolling. They will have at least 1 slip up.

Our only hope to get him though is if he does end up at a Purdue type school where in 2 or 3 years he then comes to ND. BK is not going anywhere. He has an AD that loves him and gave him the 6 year extension. We are stuck w/ coach 8-4 for quite awhile. We just need to enjoy the lower level bowls. At least in those type of bowl games we have a chance to win them.

Not really sure why this matters, unless you guys think Fleck is staying at Western for another year. Kelly will be the coach at ND at least through next year. Coach Kelly was PJ Fleck at Cincinnati....with a lot longer track record and he did go 12-0 that regular season....I think Fleck is a good young coach as well but he has 4 years total head coaching experience at Western freaking Michigan, that's it. ND would not consider him. Not because he can't coach, but because there is way too much else that goes into being ND head coach than coaching.

Exactly. I think there is virtually no chance that ND is going to make a change, but PJ Fleck's credentials don't stack up to those which Kelly had while he was at Cincinnati.

You're right. He lacks the Coach 8 & 4 credentials. Why would anyone one want to clean up this mess?Fleck only knows how to coach, not how to talk about it. He's the best young talent in the industry. Period. A a top level school will be the beneficiary. My suspicion has always been 8 & 4 stays until the end of next year and the agony and stench of this program forces Swarbrick to make a change. Which is his biggest problem, always responding rather than leading. This is Weis in his last moments. It's very possible the Fleck remains another year. Possible,...but...maybe we can luck out, in spite of Swarbrick's inability to make a command decision.

That's right. He does lack Kelly's credentials, whether you want to admit that or not.

I am not saying Kelly is the absolute best guy for the job, but he has done much more than the previous 3 coaches. To anoint PJ Fleck as "the next coming" is a bit premature after 1 good year that is not even complete yet.

Credentials ? your right Fleck does not have BK's credentials.

Fleck fields a team w/ the following coaching credentials.

1. Good special teams. 2. Creative / effective Offensive play calling. 3. Sound Defense. 4. Defensive players w/ very good tackling skills. 5. Very good Red Zone offense. 6. Very good game management. 7. Does not waste timeouts early in the first half or early in the second half. 8. His Players love playing for him. 9. His teams usually have less turnovers than the opponent.

Your spot NDSMC - Fleck has none of BK's coaching credentials.

Sorry, I was talking facts, not general opinions. Here's Kelly's coaching record. Pay particular attention to his record as of the time ND hired him.

Here is Fleck's record.

You tell me who looks more qualified.

I'm talking facts also. Flecks team for a fact is better coached than BK's ND team.

And the Fact is that Fleck is currently undefeated and BK is 3 -5.

Your first statement is an opinion, not a fact. How many times have you watched Western Michigan play this year?

were Kelly's UC teams better prepped than Fleck's WMU teams?

My statement is fact. Fleck is 8-0. Bk is 3 - 5.

W.Mich. is a better coached team than ND. Fact.

And I've watched them play 3 times.

Tonight will be 4 times.

Wow, you must be pretty bored.

I enjoy college football. I don't watch the NFL.

And most of all I like watching very well coached college teams.

More importantly I hope JS is doing his job and watching also.

He may want to interview Fleck some day.

I don't watch the NFL either. I haven't watched an NFL game in at least 25 years. I watch a lot of college football. But even so, I don't get a chance to see any team but ND more than 3 times a year, maybe four at the most. And I guaranty you I'm not catching any MAC team 3-4 times a year.
PJ Fleck may be a fine coach. He may someone ND wants to look at in the future. But there are two things which I believe are certainties: (1) Kelly will be back at ND next year; and (2) even if Kelly, for some reason, were not to return to ND next year, he would not be replaced by PJ Fleck.

If the boosters wives have a say, he will be hired ASAP . There is a better chance of Sandusky being named head coach
There should be an IQ test to post on rivals.
Clueless!

Woo hoo WM just beat the third best team in the state of Indiana. MAC rules. LOL. Maybe when Fleck gets hired at Purdue he can beat Ball again.

results matter....PJ Fleck has those....whether fans want him at ND or not. If WMU were on Notre Dame's schedule this year....it would probably make some people nervous....at least it should

The more interesting topic would be, what if Kelly was coaching WMU today; would they have the same amount of wins, would they recruit as well, would they look as organized as they do? And if Fleck were coaching at ND today, what would the team look like? My view would be, in both scenarios drastically different.
