Going pro. Yikes! Coach Brey has his work cut out for him next year. BTW. Anyone notice Jerian Grant hitting his stride lately. ND will be represented nicely in the upcoming years in the NBA. Better send the ND truck to Jarrett Allens house. We need studs quick.

Beachum won't be hiring an agent so he may be back next year. Some players just want to check out their NBA status and also attend the NBA combine to pick up some playing tips. It almost behooves someone like Beachum to do what he's doing.

I think it is a good move on his part. As long as he does not hire an agent, it is not a bad move to get a feel for his draft status. And maybe, he gets some good feedback on what he needs to work on as well.

He's not going pro, unless he gets a 1st round grade this year, which he won't. Brey simply wants him to go through the evaluation process and workout for NBA people so that he can get some real (and neutral) feedback on where his game needs to improve heading into his senior season in order to get drafted. At his size, and with his ability to shoot, he has the makings of a really 2-3 coming off your bench. He really reminds me of a guy my Raptors drafted in the 1st round a couple years back out of Washington, Terrence Ross. Both are long, slender athletes who can get to the rim or hit jump shots...

Great idea by Brey to help prepare VJ and give him confidence heading into his senior year.

My thoughts exactly.

Brey only had one player hurt by returning to school (Chris Thomas), VJ will be back just getting an opnion of where he needs to improve.

Beachum will be back unless he does something dumb will going through this process given the likelihood of greater access by agents in this new environment. Violations leading to eligibility issues are a real concern in my opinion.
In watching the end of the season and the tournament games, he really upped his offensive game but it is on the defensive side that I see the NBA having some issues. ND really got schooled on the boards especially when Auguste was not in there. As I watched, it was often Beachum's man who was getting the offensive board. Improving in this area will really help ND and him next year.

VJ also gets to compete with high level talent during this evaluation process which will be a good thing. He had a great post-season and is going to continue to improve.
