Hey all,
Video highlights below of Prince Kollie's season opener. His team, David Crockett H.S. fell on the road to Ooltewah 14-12.
As you will see in the video, very wet field. Hard rain in the area for much of the day (including a flood warning through 8:30 PM). There was a downpour in the 3rd quarter, which I would guess is the reason the live steam of the game came to an end.
Ooltewah had two big advantages in this game. 1.) Many more players. Crockett only played 17-18 players in meaningful snaps. 2.) Ooltewah's QB (Fisher Perry, class of 2021) did a real nice job in the second half making some game changing throws, and some big runs too, in wet conditions. He was a difference maker.
As for Kollie....very tough to eval his performance at LB.
I can say this. He is fast, and he certainly doesn't mind contact. He is a leader, and is going to be a high effort kid. He struggled with cramps for much of the game, yet was never was thrilled about leaving the field.
He plays RB and wildcat/QB - arguably too much. I don't have the final stats, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was north of 40 carries. And he got hit a lot, ganged tackled a lot, often in the backfield.
He was GASSED by the latter part of the second quarter - clearly working hard to get his breath. Not sure if it ever came back in the second half, frankly. There was never a time where he was out of the game for more the 3 or 4 plays in a row. He just never got a substantial rest.
His workload on offense I thought really took away from the energy we would see from him on defense.
Still some good stuff on video....(1st half - low angle, 2nd half - high angle)
EDITORIAL UPDATE: Johnson City Press has Kollie for 30 carries for 169 yards (link here). I wasn't taking stats, obviously, because I am filming. So I would definitely go with JCP for the truth here. I have doubts if they are including sacks against Kollie when he was playing QB.....there were a handful.
