Guess the writers weren't as bothers as all of us fans about our red zone troubles. It is f-ing hard being a fan -- I almost had a heart attack, switching back and forth from watching my Mets collapse and ND barely winning, I apologized to my wife for yelling at the tv a dozen times -- Murphy! -- needless to say it was a two-martini night!

Anyway, beat Pitt and we should move up to 7 because of the LSU-Alabama game. (Probably better for us if LSU wins, right?)

Go Irish. This could get exciting.

That would happen only if Bama loses. If LSU loses by a field goal they would not drop LSU below us. better hope for LSU win.

Our best bet is a spot in the playoffs for sec champ, big champ, Clemson and ND

Root for big 12 to eliminate each other and ND gets the nod over a few 1-loss teams

I'm mostly interested in the BCS rankings that come out this week.We could very well be ranked anywhere from 8-12.

It still will be difficult for us to get in. In the SEC East Division ,Florida the leader has an easier schedule playing Vanderbilt, Florida Atlantic, South Carolina, Florida State ( don't think they are going to win against Florida). Then thinking Florida is going to play in the SEC championship against Alabama or LSU. In the Big 12 ,Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma are going to have to beat each other up since these 4 teams end the last part of their schedules playing each other .In the ACC ,Clemson looks to have the easiest path to final 4.

I believe that Clemson is in , and there is a possibility that 2 teams from SEC ,1 team from BIG10 especially if Ohio State loses to Michigan St ,weak schedule . 1 team from Big 12 .Think the PAC 12 could be left out . ND has to win out.

You are crazy to think that they will take 2 teams from SEC. Won't happen,.
Clemson is not in if Florida State beats them and then wins ACC (Florida State would be in in this case)

Most likely in
Acc Champ
SEC champ
Big10 Champ

ND needs to hope big 12 beats each other up (if every team in big12 has at least one loss ND will get the nod i think over these one loss teams)

IF ND beats Stanford it will kick Pac12 out as well

Oh the Mets... Bad night almost got worse. Glad the Irish pulled it out though.

They will take whoever ESPN tells them they want, just like last year.

I believe LSU will win the SEC. However, the best scenario would be Bama beating LSU and Ole Miss winning out including the CG. Ole Miss owns the tie-breaker over Bama and already has two losses. For them to win out would likely eliminate the SEC from the playoffs.

Of course, the committee could take a one-loss team from the SEC West over the conference champ if they voted them in. Would make a mockery of the folks busting on ND for not playing the 13th game.

11-1 ND is in. Doesnt matter what everyone else does. There will be one undefeated power 5 team at most.

You don't know that you are just guessing like every body else but say it with such confidence. If LSU, Ohio State, TCU and Clemson go undefeated tell me how 11-1 ND gets in?

LSU begins it's 4 weeks of terror. Alabama, Arkansas, ole miss, Texas a&m.
They need to beat Bama for sure....giving the tide two losses and out of it. The three after that and then a rematch with Florida could get them a loss for sure. Possibly two.

A question... Would a two loss Sec winner be left out of the playoffs? I bet they would be outside looking in. Even with espns love affair of the sec.

ESPN does not have a love affair with the SEC nor do they hate Notre Dame. Obviously there are some individuals at ESPN and voters around the country who hate ND's success over the years, but there are also many who love ND and what the university stands for.

Many school espouse hate for their programs; have your heard the Criminole fans when the press dared to call their rapist a rapist? There is bias in everything, but decency usually prevails as in the FSU case where FSU and the rapist will pay for their missdeeds through Civil Court, probably a settlement soon as the don't want the rapist to have to lie under oath and be exposed again to criminal charges.

Epic, somehow...someway you always turn a thread into 'FSU sucks'. I can just picture you now as an AP voter - ND nr 1.......FSU nr 128.

Is there no middle ground? Can FSU just play their games and we just wait and see? Bringing up FSU's offenses from years ago is like crying over a bad official's call - it's never going to change. Most everyone just lets things go that can never be changed but you seem to cling to them like your life depends on it.

Saying that same thing over and over again doesn't make it any more valid. Even at 11-1 we are still subject to what has gone on with the other teams. It's not as simple as just win four games and we're in.

Agree! ND will need a ton of help to get into the playoffs. After TCU got left out last year, I can see the committee giving the B12 an extra look. It may boil down to screwing the B12 over two years in a row and giving an 11-1 ND team a shot. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes - ok, maybe I would. But, there's always going to be someone crying foul. IMO, the playoffs should be top 8 since there is so much ambiguity in CFB. That said, IMO, it should never go over eight teams or less than six.

In that scenario only Bama would have one-loss and their best win could be over a 2 loss or worse LSU so I don't see how that would be good enough to get into the top 4.

Had to re-read my post. True, Bama would only have one loss and Ole Miss would have two losses.

However, each team would have only one loss (LSU two) in the SEC. Ole Miss would own the tie-breaker on Bama (SEC wins/losses) and play for the CCG.

Understand your feelings and you have plenty of ND fan company. However, while Argus offing himself would eliminate most of the delusion at this site it would also eliminate most of the humor he provides. We all can use a reason to laugh each day regardless of the potential embarrassment he might subject the ND fans to. The trade off just might be worth it.

I follow, just think in that scenario Florida getting in as the SEC Champ is a better bet then Bama... don't see Bama getting in if their best win is to a two Loss LSU

I agree. If Bama has been anything this year it has been unspectacular. I expect FLA vs LSU rematch in the CCG. Could see it going either way.

There is no entertainment value with Argus unless you, his little no1etroll lapdog follow his every post. If you are one thing, it is consistent in your inability to resist replying to Argus.

Get used to it. I swore an allegiance to Argus years ago that every time he flamed FSU without reason, hijacked a thread out of ignorance or with lies I would be his worst nightmare. It's a commitment I intend to keep.

I disagree. Any one wants to see playoffs NFL is there for you. College football is unique its far more exciting than NFL precisely for the reason that every game holds a lot of weight. Very little margin for error. Can't speak for other but for me it will be a lot less exciting to watch college football if it went the way of NFL. I believe it was more exciting in the past when we did not have Playoffs and it would be far less attractive for me if they kept expanding playoffs.

Simple minds.

The odds of all those teams going undefeated is astronomical. It is idiotic to even consider it.

I will keep saying it until somebody gives me a valid reason why it wont happen. I havent seen one yet.
