Tyler Newsome super stud punter ! Flips field position !

Tyler Newsome averaged kicking 44.6 yards a kick on 55 punts last year. He flipped field position many times . He also is great at kicking it inside the 15.

*** Expect Tyler to punt less this year due to Notre Dames high powered offense but the coaches say he has improved on his strength due to hard work in the weight room (including stretching--ala Stanford).

***Tyler could very well punt for over a 45 yard average in 16 ! Ray Guy anyone?

yea, we all tend to remember the few shanks that killed us in field position, but Tyler had a really good year, and expect better this year. He has one hell of a leg, and he is learning not to outkick his coverage, and how to stick it inside the ten instead of booming into the end zone. I hated the years where ND had terrible kickers (punt and/or FG) and love the fact Kelly has placed a lot of emphasis on these two positions. Tyler is a major weapon for sure, and one that may prove the difference against the best teams we play.
