Villanova and Gonzaga
Took me a while to figure it out. Kept racking my brains for two Catholic schools that went to natty finals twice in a row. Then a light went on...

First of all, the OP makes it sound as though it happens every year. It doesn't. This is an anomaly.

With that said, BBall is much easier as the numbers required are so much lower. Get 2-3 good ones a year and you're there. After that it takes a bit of luck.

Thanks Alice. Should have got Villanova but didn't realize Gonzaga was a Catholic school.

Actually, The Zags do have an important football victory over Texas Tech. Of course, that was 78 years ago and they haven't won a game since 1941. Of course, that was the year of their last season of football. As for Nova, they are quite a successful DIAA program and they have something in common with ND. Both have Sun Bowl wins.
