Narduzzi re ND recruiting -- total bull shit

"They're a nationally recruited team. From recruiting and playing against them in the past, I'm not sure if Brian Kelly would admit this but they can go out there and have the pick of who they like to get in recruiting."

That is a really stupid thing for him to say -- it puts Kelly in an awful position and it isn't even true -- a really stupid thing for a coach to say about a fellow coach and or program .

Recruiting advantages - yes
Academic limitations on who ND can take - yes
Pick of who we want and just pluck them up -- horseshit- see wet dream

Narduzzi should know better - I hope we drill them on Saturday . His statement was unprofessional and that is being kind .

Kelly either got a big chuckle out of that statement or he is really pissed off .

ND has HUGE advantages in recruiting and it's only limitation is the university itself. ND regularly beats out the heavyweights of the CFB world on players that can academically qualify. The ND brand name is unmatched by any other team - ND has its own broadcasting network deal, Showtime series, NFL-ready players on draft day, player internship overseas, most storied CFB program, top flight worldwide alumni network, annually the highest football grad rate...the list could go on and on. Narduzzi is not that far off in his statement - truly no other CFB program can compete with what ND offers their student athletes.

Why would BK be pissed about this? If anything it's a nod to the talent BK has brought it. Weird thing to get pissed about.

It lets nit wits think that recruiting at ND is easy - pick of the litter syndrome

Anyone who follows recruiting knows narduzzi's comment is bull shit -

recruiting @ ND is a bitch like it is at every school -- any coach should know better than to make that statement about any program. See eddie Vandergoes -- See Deantray Greenberry - see Ronald Darby -- get it ???

Multiple people on this thread have said it's not a big deal. I don't think people are going to particularly care about what the Pitt coach says regarding recruiting at Notre Dame. It's generally accepted that ND (a) has advantages in recruiting, due to the resources of the university, the fanbase, the national exposure, etc., and (b) has disadvantage in recruiting, due to weather, location, academic restrictions, etc.

If Brian Kelly actually gets pissed about this quote, then I'll wonder why he's spending so much time during game week getting upset about what the opposing coach said that people generally have shrugged their shoulders at.

Since you're in the goofy "ND umbrage business" today I'm curious.

Which of these "recruiting" remarks is more offensive?

"You can see the players that I have recruited, you know who they are.... We’'ve had one class of kids that we'’ve recruited that I’'ve had my hand on. The other guys here are coming along."

"They're a nationally recruited team. From recruiting and playing against them in the past, I'm not sure if Brian Kelly would admit this but they can go out there and have the pick of who they like to get in recruiting."

I will await your vulgar response.

I think his point was that wearing that ND logo pretty much opens the door to any recruit. Where as the PITT or MSU jacket jist garners a smile many times.

So why is BK going to get pissed if so called Nit Wits think ND has an easy recruiting gig? Wouldn't we want our coach to be self-assured enough to not care what "Nit Wits" think? Also, that statement doesn't say that ND has it easy in recruiting, it says that they recruit nationally and can pick who they want to recruit. Pitt can't do that. Making a non-issue an issue.

We have 3 5 star players on our roster - recruiting @ ND is easy

Again, you're the first person on this board to accuse me of watching Fox News.

I've never said recruiting at Notre Dame is "easy". We have advantages. We have disadvantages.

Count up how many people have agreed with me on this thread. Count up how many people have agreed with you on this thread. Whose viewpoint appears to be furthest from the mainstream?

Professionally Narduzzi should limit his comments to his own program and not set up ND as some recruiting juggernaut just to lower the expectations for his own team and fan base .
see Tee Sheppard
Blake Barnett and 200 other kids that were on ND wish list that they did not get -- comment was stupid and inappropriate

With any luck at all, I hope ND bitch slaps PITT and Narduzzi. I never liked PITT and Narduzzi was part of the MSU culture that thinks it is OK to pull up sod and stomp on mid-field like they won a NC game.
As PSU fans say "shit on PITT".

If ND had their pick of recruits they would have 20 championships now. This is a myth since not every recruit qualifies. First you have identify a recruit you want. Then, see if he can get in academically. If he does, then, you have to convince him to come to ND. It is a more limited pool to choose from than the big state schools or any SEC school. It's harder to recruit nationally. A lot of kids don't want to go far away. Then others who do, get homesick and transfer. Look at Texas. They don't even have to leave the state to get top players. That's an advantage ND never had. USC can get the majority of their players from Califotnia. Forget the Florida schools. There's enough talent down there to fill great teams at all 3 major schools. All this recruiting advantage has done little for ND the past 20 plus years. ND needs to win to show they can still compete for national championships. Otherwise, they will simply field good 9 win teams.

I see no reason to repeat anything said by PSU fans.

I wouldn't say ND gets their pick, but there are elite kids in California, Texas, Florida that will have ND come visit and listen to what they have to say. That's not going to happen at Pitt and doesn't even really happen at Michigan State where Narduzzi came from despite their back to back top 5 finishes. Although that has started to change a bit, but it's been a long road to hoe.

Nothing really incorrect about what he said, just probably not a good thing to say. Pennsylvania and Ohio has a nice crop of kids every year, Narduzzi needs to win his backyard first and coach those kids up. He knows the drill they got there with MSU. Its not about who you get or don't get, it's about what you do with players you have. Just have to be a much better evaluator of talent and better at coaching kids up or have a realy great scheme at a regional school.

nothing to get all upset about...ND has more talent on the field than every team they played against this year.. That includes Clemson.. No school can pick whoever they want because kids have different reasons to go to different schools... Only thing that is a tad annoying is the angle that ND cant recruit as well due to academic issues with the university.. ND bends the rules for athletes just like every other university does, It just isnt willing to bend them quite as far as some other schools. Meaning if the same academic requirements applied to the student body were applied to the football team, there would be many fewer players... Again true for any P5 university. I dont have a problem with it , only the notion that ND somehow rises above it. I like ND and have attended many, many games there through the years. People have always been very friendly and welcoming.. That definitely sets ND apart from most places.
