For all of the anecdotes, I found it interesting that the 1988 Cotton Bowl was the first time the teams had met. ND had already played a small number of games with schools such as UH, SMU, TCU and Rice. A&M is one of the more truly unique schools but I suppose ND never wanted to be around that type of uniqueness.

Forgot all about that game. ND was on the verge of an epic reemergence, and not quite ready. Tim Brown was an electric one man gang. Good stuff!

Looks like Tim Brown was hurt and the offense stalled in the first half. The two other Cotton Bowl wins over A&M by ND are mostly forgotten because they were disappointment bowls, those teams should have been playing for the national title.
